1. Towards atomically resolved magnetic measurements in the transmission electron microscope : A study of structure and magnetic moments in thin films
Sammanfattning : The magnetic properties of thin metallic films are significantly different from the bulk properties due to the presence of interfaces. The properties shown by such thin films are influenced by the atomic level structure of the films and the interfaces. LÄS MER
2. Uncovering Magnetic Order in Nanostructured Disordered Materials : A Study of Amorphous Magnetic Layered Structures
Sammanfattning : The scope of this thesis is the study of the interplay between structure and magnetism in amorphous materials. The investigations focus on the growth of amorphous layers and the study of the influence of structural disorder and reduced physical extension on the magnetic properties of thin films and multilayers. 3. Tailored Properties of Ferromagnetic Thin Films
Sammanfattning : Magnetic thin films and patterned nanostructures have been studied with respect to their magnetic properties using SQUID-magnetometry, magnetic force microscopy, electrical measurements, and micromagnetic calculations. Properties of vortex domain walls, trapped in Permalloy nanowires with artificial constrictions, were investigated experimentally and by numerical calculations. LÄS MER
4. Fundamental Properties of Functional Magnetic Materials
Sammanfattning : Magnetic properties of powders, thin films and single crystals have been investigated using magnetometry methods. This thesis provides analysis and conclusions that are supported by the results obtained from spectroscopic and diffraction measurements as well as from theoretical calculations. LÄS MER
5. Impedance of Soft Magnetic Multilayers : Application to GHz Thin Film Inductors
Sammanfattning : A theoretical approach to calculating impedance of metallicmagnetic/conductor layered structures is developed. Thefrequency range considered extends to the ferromagneticresonance region of soft magnetic films (of the order of 1GHz). LÄS MER
