    Sammanfattning : Traffic congestion is a constantly growing problem, with a wide array of negative effects on the society, from wasted time and productivity to elevated air pollution and reduction of safety. The introduction of connected, autonomous vehicles enables a new, Lagrangian paradigm for sensing andcontrolling the traffic, by directly using connected vehicles inside the traffic flow, as opposed to the classical, Eulerian paradigm, which relies on stationary equipment on the road.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of this work is to provide simulation-based support for making optimal (or near-optimal) decisions in situations where decision makers are faced with imperfect information. We develop several novel techniques and algorithms for simulation-based optimization and decision support and apply them to two categories of problems: (i) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) path planning in search operations, and; (ii) optimization of business process models.     Sammanfattning : Semiconducting glazes on ceramic insulators had been introduced as a solution for improving the performance of high voltage insulators especially under heavily polluted conditions. The major concern in using such glazes, despite their approved advantages, is the observed aging of the surface with exposure time, leading to reduction of conductivity and deterioration of the glaze itself, especially under dc voltage.
