  1. 16. Reassembling the Environmental Archives of the Cold War : Perspectives from the Russian North

    Författare :Dmitry V. Arzyutov; Peder Roberts; Per Högselius; Julia Lajus; Bathsheba Demuth; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Environmental Archive; Russian Arctic; Encounters; Cold War; Indigenous and Academic Ways of Knowing; Miljöarkiv; ryska Arktis; möten; det kalla kriget; ursprungliga och akademiska kunskapssystem.; Historiska studier av teknik; vetenskap och miljö; History of Science; Technology and Environment;

    Sammanfattning : To what extent the environmental history of the Arctic can move beyond thedivide between Indigenous peoples and newcomers or vernacular and academicways of knowing? The present dissertation answers this question by developing thenotion of an environmental archive. Such an archive does not have particular referenceto a given place but rather it refers to the complex network that marks the relationsbetween paper documents and human and non-human agencies as they are able towork together and stabilise the conceptualisation of a variety of environmentalobjects. 2. 17. Sustainable consumption for policymakers: measuring, learning and acting

    Författare :Elena Dawkins; Viveka Palm; Mattias Höjer; Åsa Persson; Paul Ekins; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sustainable consumption; environmental pressures; consumption-based indicators; footprint; policymaker; measuring; learning; action; Sweden; Planering och beslutsanalys; Planning and Decision Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Current patterns and levels of consumption are a key driver of unsustainable resource use and pollution, which contributes to global environmental degradation. Rapid reductions in environmental pressures are required to avoid irreversible loss of fragile ecosystems and social and economic crises. Consumption must become sustainable. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Heterogeneity-Induced Channelling, Flow-Wetted Surface, and Modelling of Transport in Fractured Rock

    Författare :Martin Larsson; Auli Niemi; Chin-Fu Tsang; VLADIMIR CVETKOVIC; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; channelling; flow-wetted surface; fractured rock; solute transport; groundwater modelling; groundwater; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Heterogeneities in fractured rock are found at all scales; from the scale of individual fractures, to the scale of fracture networks, and to the largest regional scales. These heterogeneities cause challenges for modelling and parameter estimation of flow and solute transport. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Mismatch Repair Deficient Cancer Diagnostic Aspects in Colorectal Cancer and the Role of Urological Cancer in Lynch Syndrome

    Författare :Patrick Joost; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mismatch repair; Lynch syndrome; immunohistochemistry; microsatellite instability; heterogeneity; cumulative incidence; colorectal cancer; urothelial cancer; prostate cancer; renal cell cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Mismatch repair (MMR) deficiency is carcinogenic and can either have somatic/sporadic causes (i.e. epigenetic silencing or somatic inactivation) or hereditary causes (Lynch syndrome due to a germline mutation in one of the MMR genes ¬- MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Radiation dose and image quality in diagnostic radiology : optimization of the dose - image quality relationship with clinical experience from scoliosis radiography, coronary intervention and a flat-panel digital detector

    Författare :Håkan Geijer; Hans Ringertz; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Det är känt att röntgenstrålning kan orsaka cancersjukdomar, hudskador och andra sidoeffekter. Därför är det viktigt och även föreskrivet i lag att strålexpaneringen inom diagnostisk radiologi skall sänkas så långt som möjligt. Detta kallas på engelska ALARA-principen (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). LÄS MER
