  1. 1. Calculation and Measurement of the Neutron Emission Spectrum due to Thermonuclear and Higher-Order Reactions in Tokamak Plasmas

    Författare :Luigi Ballabio; Jef Ongena; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : A series of analytic and numerical models have been developed for the prediction and interpretation of the energy spectrum of the neutron emission from thermonuclear deuteriumtritium (DT) plasmas. The main component of the neutron emission, due to reactions between thermal fuel ions, has been modeled as well as minority components due to the presence of fast (supra-thermal) ions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Experimental Fission Studies at Intermediate Energies

    Författare :Klas Elmgren; Ralf Nolte; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : A series of nuclear fission experiments have been performed in the intermediate energy range. The dynamics of the fission process have been studied by means of detection of neutrons emitted from compound nuclei formed by ion beams of protons, α-particles, and 12C-ions, all at a beam energy of 100 MeV. 3. 3. Instrumentation for fusion neutron measurements and experimentation at JET

    Författare :Johan Frenje; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : A magnetic proton recoil (MPR) spectrometer has been designed and constructed for use at the Joint European Torus (JET) tokamak. It was installed at JET in October 19% and has subsequently been in continuous use during the first main deuterium-tritium (DT) operation in 1997, which culminated in the production of a record plasma generating 16. 4. 4. Development of Neutron Emission Spectroscopy Instrumentation for Deuterium and Deuterium-Tritium Fusion Plasmas at JET

    Författare :Luca Giacomelli; Jan Källne; Thomas Sangster; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Nuclear physics; neutron spectroscopy; MPRu; TOFOR; JET; Radio frequency heating; Count rate; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The study of high power fusion plasmas at the JET tokamak has been further enhanced through the development of instrumentation for neutron emission spectroscopy (NES) measurements. This has involved the upgrade of the magnetic proton recoil (MPR) spectrometer used for deuterium-tritium plasmas earlier so that the MPRu can now be also employed for deuterium (D) plasmas. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Neutron Spectroscopy Studies of Heating Effects in Fusion Plasmas

    Författare :Hans Henriksson; Jan Källne; Joaquín Sánchez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; neutron emission spectroscopy; diagnostic; fusion research; plasma heating; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : High power fusion plasmas produced in the world’s largest facility for magnetic confinement experiments (JET), have been studied using the neutron emission measured with the magnetic proton recoil (MPR) spectrometer. The MPR has been used to observe plasmas since 1996 including those of deuterium-tritium leading to several fusion records and corresponding observational achievements of neutron emission spectroscopy.
