  1. 11. The Shepherds of Þjórsárver. : Traditional Use and Hydropower Development in the Commons of the Icelandic Highland

    Författare :Helga Ögmundardóttir; Hugh Beach; Gísli Pálsson; Mark Nuttall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Land use disputes; local peoples; sheep herding; damming; commons; identity; traditions; nationalism; Þjórsárver wetland reserve.; Cultural anthropology; Kulturantropologi; Kulturantropologi; Cultural Anthropology;

    Sammanfattning : This study explores a damming dispute that has been going on for over four decades in Iceland, about whether a dam, Norðlingaölduveita, should be built in the central highland, near the glacier Hofsjökull and the wetland reserve Þjórsárver, or not.  The study focuses on the local resistance against the dam, led by a group of people in the farming community Gnúpverjahreppur, which has its highland grazing commons in the Þjórsárver area. 2. 12. Trade-offs and conflicting objectives of decision-making investments in low-carbon technology portfolios for sustainable development : National and continental insights offered by applying energy system models

    Författare :IOANNIS PAPPIS; Viktoria Martin; Will Usher; Mark Howells; Catalina Spataru; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sustainable development; energy systems analysis; modelling tools; energy policy; energy resources management; techno-economic analysis; low-carbon technology portfolios; energy access; OSeMOSYS; Paraguay; Ethiopia; Africa; hållbar utveckling; energisystemanalys; modelleringsverktyg; energipolitik; energiresursförvaltning; teknisk-ekonomisk analys; energiteknologiportföljer; tillgång till energi; OSeMOSYS; Paraguay; Ethiopia; Africa; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Energy infrastructure and appropriate energy policies are crucial for sustainable development and to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Limiting global warming potential below 1.5oC would require “rapid and far-reaching” transitions and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Modelling and analysis of hydropower generator rotors

    Författare :Rolf Gustavsson; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion; Computer Aided Design;

    Sammanfattning : In almost all production of electricity the rotating machines serves as an important part of the energy transformation system. In hydropower units, a hydraulic turbine connected to a generator converts the potential energy stored in the water reservoir into electrical energy in the generator. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Lubrication of sliding bearings for hydropower applications

    Författare :Donald McCarthy; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Sammanfattning : The term "sliding bearing" refers to types of bearing where two conformal surfaces (usually the stationary bearing and a moving shaft) slide relative to one another with load distributed directly across the interface. A suitable lubricant may be employed to reduce the friction between these two surfaces. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Solar Variability Assessment in the Built Environment : Model Development and Application to Grid Integration

    Författare :David Lingfors; Joakim Widén; Jan Kleissl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solar Variability; Photovoltaics; Grid Integration; Distributed Generation; LiDAR; GIS; Engineering Science; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : During the 21st century there has been a rapid increase in grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) capacity globally, due to falling system component prices and introduction of various economic incentives. To a large extent, PV systems are installed on buildings, which means they are widely distributed and located close to the power consumer, in contrast to conventional power plants. LÄS MER
