  1. 11. Cellular monitoring in open heart surgery. Monitoring of markers for ischemia, free amino acids, glucose and lactate in the myocardial interstitial fluid before, during and after cardiac surgery using microdialysis technique

    Författare :Charles Kennergren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiac surgery; myocardial ischemia; microdialysis; interstitial markers; ASAT; troponin-T; amino acids; glucose; lactate;

    Sammanfattning : Protection of the myocardium during open-heart surgery is a field of intense development. Numerous protocols have been proposed to minimize ischemia, since the beginning of open-heart surgery more than 40 years ago. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Screening for atrial fibrillation in high-risk individuals : a stroke preventive effort

    Författare :Emma Svennberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : INTRODUCTION: A condition can be suitable for population screening if the disease is an important health problem, can be detected by an appropriate test and has a silent/latent stage during which treatment could be initiated in order to prevent consequences of the disease. Atrial fibrillation (AF) increases the risk of ischemic stroke 5-fold, a risk that can be reduced by at least 64% by the use of stroke-preventive, oral anticoagulant (OAC) therapy, and there are several non-invasive methods that can be used to diagnose AF. 3. 13. Longterm outcomes in patients with acute and chronic myocardial injury

    Författare :Erik Kadesjö; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Myocardial injury is defined as any cardiac troponin (cTn) level above the upper reference limit, namely, the 99th percentile value, and is caused by either ischemic or nonischemic events. The presence of acute myocardial injury (i.e. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Markers of inflammation and cardiovascular disease in dialysis patients : variability and prognostic value

    Författare :Sunna Snaedal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with end-stage renal disease are burdened with a high cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Inflammation is a common feature in these patients and strongly associates with cardiovascular complications and outcome. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Identification of pathophysiological and prognostic biomarkers in different types of myocardial infarction

    Författare :Marcus Hjort; Bertil Lindahl; Kai M. Eggers; Helge Rørvik Røsjø; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; myocardial infarction; biomarker; pathophysiology; prognosis; MINOCA; STEMI; NSTEMI; hjärtinfarkt; biomarkör; patofysiologi; prognos; MINOCA; STEMI; NSTEMI; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The pathophysiological mechanisms of myocardial infarction (MI) with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) are largely unknown. Analogous, differences in pathobiology between ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) are incompletely understood. LÄS MER
