16. High-Performance I/O Programming Models for Exascale Computing
Sammanfattning : The success of the exascale supercomputer is largely dependent on novel breakthroughs that overcome the increasing demands for high-performance I/O on HPC. Scientists are aggressively taking advantage of the available compute power of petascale supercomputers to run larger scale and higher-fidelity simulations. LÄS MER
17. Space Computing using COTS Heterogeneous Platforms : Intelligent On-Board Data Processing in Space Systems
Sammanfattning : Space computing enriches space activities such as deep-space explorations and in-orbit intelligent decision making. The awareness of space computing is growing due to the technological advances of high-performance commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) computing platforms. LÄS MER
18. Scientific computing on hybrid architectures
Sammanfattning : Modern computer architectures, with multicore CPUs and GPUs or other accelerators, make stronger demands than ever on writers of scientific code. As a rule of thumb, the fastest, most efficient program consists of labor-intensive code written by expert programmers for a certain application on a particular computer. LÄS MER
19. High Performance Finite Element Methods with Application to Simulation of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines and Diffusion MRI
Sammanfattning : Finite element methods have been developed over decades, and together with the growth of computer power, they become more and more important in dealing with large-scale simulations in science and industry. The objective of this thesis is to develop high-performance finite element methods, with two concrete applications: computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with simulation of turbulent flow past a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT), and computational diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (CDMRI). 20. Analysis of large-scale metagenomic data
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is the analysis of large data sets of DNA sequence data produced from modern high-throughput DNA sequencing machines. Using such machines to sequence the genetic content of a microbial community produces a metagenome. This thesis comprises three research papers, all connected to the study of large metagenomic data sets. LÄS MER
