  1. 1. Spatial Strategies for Biodiversity Conservation

    Författare :André Pinto da Silva; Mats Bjõrklund; Greta Bocedi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; global change; Southern Asia; mammals; ecological modelling; Biology with specialization in Animal Conservation; Biologi med inriktning mot zoologisk bevarandebiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Biodiversity is being lost under alarming rates due to an unsustainable socio-economic trajectory causing global change. Such loss is unequally spread over the Earth, and Southern Asia has been and is projected to continue to be one of the most affected regions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Spatial prediction tools for biodiversity in environmental assessment

    Författare :Mikael Gontier; Berit Balfors; Ulla Mörtberg; Davide Geneletti; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EIA; SEA; Species distribution modelling; Habitat suitability modelling; Impact prediction; GIS; Urbanisation; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Human activities in the form of land use changes, urbanisation and infrastructure developments are major threats to biodiversity. The loss and fragmentation of natural habitats are great obstacles for the long term preservation of biodiversity and nature protection measures alone may not be sufficient to tackle the problem. 3. 3. Ecological interactions in human modified landscapes : Landscape dependent remedies for the maintenance of biodiversity and ecosystem services

    Författare :Arvid Bolin; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :Central place foraging; Agriculture; Competition; Ecosystem service; Species coexistence; bumble bees; landscape ecology; Biodiversity; Agri-environment scheme; Central place foraging; jordbruk; konkurrens; landskaps ekologi; humlor; bin;

    Sammanfattning : Modern agricultural practices have led to an intensification of the agricultural landscape which has negatively affected both biodiversity and the ecosystem services it provides. In my thesis I have used ecological theory of optimal foraging to try and explain how landscape structure, landscape composition and agricultural management can explain the loss of biodiversity and how remedies can efficiently be implemented.
