11. Robust Scalable Video Multicast and Performance Issues in Wireless LANs
Sammanfattning : The successful deployment of multimedia streaming services, over a multiservice IP-based heterogeneous infrastructure, requires resource-efficient, scalable and reliable network transport. This can be achieved using end-to-end methods, e.g. adaptive application-level source and channel coding. LÄS MER
12. Empirical Studies in Corporate Finance, Taxation and Investment
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four self-contained essays. Essay 1 extends previous research focusing on firms' discrete external financing decision by adapting an estimation procedure accommodating both fixed effects and a lagged dependent variable. This makes it possible to establish the nature of the dependence. LÄS MER
13. A new approach for considering the interference impact on digital radio systems from complex interference environments
Sammanfattning : Interference from electrical equipment can severely degrade aco-located digital radio receiver. To avoid such performance degradation, it isnecessary to have estimation methods to predict the influence of an interferenceenvironment on a radio receiver. LÄS MER
14. DSP-based Coherent Optical Systems : Receiver Sensitivity and Coding Aspects
Sammanfattning : User demand for faster access to more data is at a historic high and rising. One of the enabling technologies that makes the information age possible is fiber-optic communications, where light is used to carry information from one place to another over optical fiber. LÄS MER
15. Development of the read-out link and control board for the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter Upgrade
Sammanfattning : The Phase-II upgrade plan for the ATLAS Hadronic Tile Calorimeter facing the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) era includes approximately 1000 radiation tolerant read-out link and control boards (Daughterboards) that will provide full-granularity digital data to a fully-digital trigger system off-detector through multi-Gbps optic fibres. Different Daughterboard (DB) revisions have been developed, each successively aiming to meet the demanding HL-LHC requirements. LÄS MER
