  1. 31. Mechanistic Insights into Transition Metal Oxide Catalyzed Water Oxidation

    Författare :Michael Busch; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water oxidation; density functional theory; electrochemistry; water splitting; catalysis; water oxidation;

    Sammanfattning : A binuclear mechanism was proposed and evaluated by means of Density Functional Theory calculations. The central reaction steps were found to be the oxidation of the transition metal TM-OH moieties to TM=O and the subsequent intramolecular O-O bond formation between two TM=O groups. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Amperometric Biosensors for Detection of Analytes in Cellular Models

    Författare :Jaime Castillo Leon; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Simultaneous detection; Bienzyme electrode; Amperometric biosensors; Cellular models; Analytisk kemi; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Various biological problems such as disease mechanisms, drug development and toxicological studies motivated the introduction of cellular models that today also represent an alternative for reducing the use of animals in controversial medical and pharmaceutical experiments. Cells are complex matrices where several processes occur simultaneously. LÄS MER

  3. 33. From Peak to Peak: Exploring Electron Hopping and Mass Transport in Metal-Organic Frameworks

    Författare :Ashleigh T. Castner; Sascha Ott; Deanna M. D'Alessandro; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; charge transport; mass transport; metal-organic frameworks; electrocatalytic materials; electrochemistry; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Incorporating molecular electrocatalysts into solid support structures combines the best of two worlds: their molecular nature allows precise structural tunability for selective and efficient conversion of small molecule substrates, while their structural integrity is greatly improved by the heterogeneous support matrix to allow for long-term stability and potentially industrial-scale applications. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) represent a potential class of materials to act as viable support scaffolds for hosting molecular catalysts for sustainable energy conversion, exhibiting well-ordered porous structures that can support high loading densities of catalyst species. 4. 34. Biomass-derived nanoscopic catalysts for water treatment : Structure-property relationship investigation

    Författare :Jianhong Chen; Adam Slabon; Germán Salazar Alvarez; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; green chemistry; water purification; electrochemistry; photochemistry; biomass material; structure-property relationship; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Green Chemistry has received widespread interest due to its capacity to meet environmental and economic objectives. The Twelve Principles were proposed to better perform Green Chemistry and have become the guideline for solving many environmental issues. Water contamination has become a major global challenge in the 21st century. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Spectroelectrochemistry of Redox Enzymes

    Författare :Andreas Christenson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elektrokemi; Electrochemistry; complex II; bilirubin oxidase; laccase; enzyme mechanism; redox potential; electron transfer; spectroelectrochemistry; redox enzymes; Spectroelectrochemical cell;

    Sammanfattning : A low volume and long optical path spectroelectrochemical cell was constructed and tested in a number of applications such as detection of direct electron transfer (DET) between redox enzymes and gold electrodes, determination of the formal potentials of redox centres in proteins and enzymes, as well as mechanistic studies of heterogeneous and intermolecular electron transfer of copper oxidases and succinate:quinine oxidoreductase (Complex II). The existence of DET between enzymes and electrodes was demonstrated for theophylline oxidase, cytochrome P450 cam, laccase, bilirubin oxidase, sulphite oxidase and Complex II. LÄS MER
