1. Low-Cost, Environmentally Friendly Electric Double-Layer Capacitors : Concept, Materials and Production
Sammanfattning : Today’s society is currently performing an exit from fossilfuel energy sources. The change to sustainable alternativesrequires inexpensive and environmentally friendly energy storagedevices. However, most current devices contain expensive, rare or toxic materials. These materials must be replaced bylow-cost, abundant, nontoxic components. LÄS MER
2. Interfacial properties of calcium montmorillonite in aqueous solutions : Density functional theory and classical molecular dynamics studies on the electric double layer
Sammanfattning : The swelling properties of Bentonite are highly affected by clay content and the clay-water interactions that arise from the ion distribution in the diffuse double layer formed near the charged montmorillonite (or smectite) surfaces. Existing continuum models describing the electric double layers, such as classical Poisson-Boltzmann and DLVO theory, ignore the ion-ion correlations, which are especially important for multivalent ions at high surface charge and ionic strength. 3. Double Layer Forces: the Role of Molecular Solvents
Sammanfattning : The dielectric continuum model has rightfully been and continues to be a major workhorse for theory and modelling in Surface and Colloid Chemistry. Due to the implicit description of water, entering only as a scaling constant for charge-charge interactions, one would not expect it to work for short distances. LÄS MER

5. Operating Organic Electronics via Aqueous Electric Double Layers
Sammanfattning : The field of organic electronics emerged in the 1970s with the discovery of conducting polymers. With the introduction of plastics as conductors and semiconductors came many new possibilities both in production and function of electronic devices. LÄS MER
