6. The epidemiology of cardiac arrest - In-hospital risk assessment, treatment and outcome
Sammanfattning : AIM: To describe and analyse sudden cardiac arrest, both in hospital and out of hospital, from an epidemiological perspective, by early prediction, by comparing changes over time in relation to aetiology, characteristics, treatment, survival or mortality and by identifying factors associated with outcome. METHODS: This thesis is based on four observational studies, including patient information from the Swedish Registry for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, in and out of hospital, and from a local registry on medical emergency team assessment at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. However, such exercise forms also represent a major challenge to human cardiovascular physiology and are associated with a momentarily increased risk for adverse cardiac events. LÄS MER
8. Transcriptional biomarkers of toxicity – powerful tools or random noise? : An applied perspective from studies on bivalves
Sammanfattning : Aquatic organisms are constantly at risk of being exposed to potentially harmful chemical compounds of natural or anthropogenic origin. Biological life can for instance respond to chemical stressors by changes in gene expression, and thus, certain gene transcripts can potentially function as biomarkers, i.e. LÄS MER
9. Advanced Machine Learning Methods for Oncological Image Analysis
Sammanfattning : Cancer is a major public health problem, accounting for an estimated 10 million deaths worldwide in 2020 alone. Rapid advances in the field of image acquisition and hardware development over the past three decades have resulted in the development of modern medical imaging modalities that can capture high-resolution anatomical, physiological, functional, and metabolic quantitative information from cancerous organs.
