6. Tight-binding calculations of electron scattering rates in semiconducting zigzag carbon nanotubes
Sammanfattning : The technological interest in a material depends very much on its electrical, magnetic, optical and/or mechanical properties. In carbon nanotubes the atoms form a cylindrical structure with a diameter of the order 1 nm, but the nanotubes can be up to several hundred micrometers in length. LÄS MER
7. Study of High Efficiency Phase-Only Diffractive Optical Elements
Sammanfattning : This work deals with the design, simulation, manufacture, and evaluation of diffractive optical elements. Particularly, kinoforms and diffractive bifocal intraocular lenses are studied. Evaluation of kinoforms, i.e. LÄS MER
8. Quantitative Modeling of Gain in Quantum Cascade Lasers under Operational Intensities
Sammanfattning : This thesis adresses modeling of quantum cascade lasers using non-equilibrium Green’s functions. Focus lies on the quantitative modeling of the gain when the systems are exposed to strong laser fields, as under realistic opertional conditions. LÄS MER
9. Magnetic dipole excitations in even-even nuclei
Sammanfattning : The properties of K(pi) = 1+ states in deformed even-even rare-earth nuclei have been investigated within the Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA). The B(M1) spectrum and the differential cross section for electron scattering have been calculated and are seen to be consistent with the interpretation that the experimental 1+ states first considered to be a scissors mode, actually correspond to slightly collective states with the main proton components coming from positive parity proton states. 10. Interactions and coherences in electron transport through serially coupled quantum dots
Sammanfattning : This thesis is considering various aspects of electronic transport through quantum dots, with the focus on two or three dots coupled in series. In paper I, we study the impact of electron-electron interactions on transport in a system of triple quantum dots with spin. LÄS MER
