  1. 1. Particulate phosphorus accumulation and net retention in constructed wetlands receiving agricultural runoff : Critical analysis of factors affecting retention estimates

    Författare :Karin Johannesson; Karin Tonderski; Stefan Weisner; Uno Wennergren; Ben Surridge; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phosphorus retention; constructed wetlands; agriculture; sampling strategy;

    Sammanfattning : Övergödning är ett allvarligt miljöproblem, som bland annat orsakar omfattande blomningar av alger och blågrönbakterier. I söt- och brackvatten är fosfor ofta det mest begränsande näringsämnet för dessa organismer, varför en minskning av fosfortillförseln är nödvändig för att nå förbättringar. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Long-term metal retention processes in a peat bog : Field studies, data and modelling

    Författare :Kristina Syrovetnik; Ivars Neretnieks; Bert Allard; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Peat; heavy metals distribution; sequential extraction; binding mechanisms; modelling; metal sulphide oxidation; aqueous composition; sorption; humic substances; ferric oxyhydroxide; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The study was inspired by the need to assess long-term metal retention in municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills. The long-term processes in landfills are poorly known due to the relatively short time that such landfills have been in existence. Natural analogues where similar metal binding processes could be expected were therefore sought for. LÄS MER

  3. 3. We want you as our new recruit : Prerequisites for recruitment to and retention in the Swedish Armed Forces

    Författare :Johan Österberg; Leif W Rydstedt; Olav Kjellevold Olsen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; conscription; recruitment; all-volunteer force; retention; Swedish Armed Forces; Psykologi; Psychology; Ledarskap under påfrestande förhållanden;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to study the prerequisites for the Swedish Armed Forces (SAF) in order to recruit sufficient numbers of suitable individuals to the organization, and to retain those within the organization.The thesis comprises three studies (Study 1-3) where Study One comprises data gathered, with a longitudinal design, when Sweden relied on conscription for the manning of the Armed Forces. 4. 4. Investigations of the retention mechanisms in hydrophilic interaction chromatography

    Författare :Ngoc Phuoc Dinh; Knut Irgum; Andrew J. Alpert; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HILIC; hydrophilic interaction chromatography; adsorption isotherm; water enriched layer; multivariate data analysis; retention mechanism; separation; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrophilic interaction chromatography is well known as a powerful technique separation of polar and ionizable compound nowadays. However the retention mechanism of the technique is still under debate. Understanding retention mechanism would facilitate the method development using the technique and its future improvement. 5. 5. Teachers' Retention in Tanzanian Remote Secondary Schools : Exploring Perceived Challenges and Support

    Författare :Raymond Boniface; Martin Stigmar; Jan Håkansson; Christer Ohlin; Sven Andersson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Challenges; Organizational Support; Remote Schools; Secondary Education; Support; Teacher Retention; Tanzania; Education; Pedagogik;

    Sammanfattning : Teacher retention is a global challenge, and many developed and developing countries are struggling to staff and retain teachers in schools, particularly in low-performing, remote, and less desirable areas. In most of these countries, Tanzania in particular, the efficacy of fiscally inclined teachers’ retention strategies continues to be dubious. LÄS MER
