6. Functional aspects of cellobiose dehydrogenase Applications for biosensor development
Sammanfattning : Electrochemcial investigations were conducted for elucidating and understanding the relation between the various electron transfer processes occurring in cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) bound to an electrode surface. Substrate inhibition caused by cellobiose was proven to act in competition with the electron transfer to a two-electron acceptor and under a partial inhibition mechanism for the internal electron transfer process. 7. Long-term follow-up in children born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia
Sammanfattning : Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a developmental defect which occurs in approximately 1 per 3000 births. The incomplete development of the diaphragm early in gestation allows abdominal viscera to herniate into the thoracic cavity. The malformation differs in size and can occur on either one or both sides, but most commonly on the left. LÄS MER
8. Improving the biocatalyst. Engineering of fungal oxidoreductases and thin-film electrodes for improvement of membraneless biofuel cells and carbohydrate biosensors
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents investigations for the improvement of electrical contact and catalytical properties of two fungal redox enzymes, cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), with electrodes and the use of the prepared electrodes as carbohydrate biosensors and in enzymatic biofuel cells. The performance of enzyme modified electrodes can be improved in two ways, by modifying the bioelement or by modifying the electrode. LÄS MER
9. 2nd and 3rd generation electrodes for biosensors and biofuel cells
Sammanfattning : The catalytic and electrochemical properties of tryptophan repressor-binding protein (WrbA), pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) on carbon electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and flow injection amperometry to construct biosensors and biofuel cell (BFC) anodes. WrbA has a catalytic FMN-containing domain whereas both PDH and GDH have a catalytic FAD-containing domains. LÄS MER
10. Role of ion and water channels for lung growth in congenital diaphragmatic hernia
Sammanfattning : Early lung development is based on a continuous cross-talk of growth and transcription factors between the developing lung bud and the surrounding parenchyma. Throughout fetal life, pulmonary growth and differentiation depend on Cl- driven lung liquid secretion. LÄS MER
