1. Cellobiose dehydrogenase on electrodes - an electrochemical biosensor for various analytes tunable by positive charges
Sammanfattning : Cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) is a sugar oxidizing enzyme secreted by various species of wood degrading fungi to assist the process of wood degradation. It can oxidise analytically relevant sugars as cellobiose, lactose or glucose leading to a gain of two electrons per sugar molecule. LÄS MER

3. 2nd and 3rd generation electrodes for biosensors and biofuel cells
Sammanfattning : The catalytic and electrochemical properties of tryptophan repressor-binding protein (WrbA), pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) on carbon electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and flow injection amperometry to construct biosensors and biofuel cell (BFC) anodes. WrbA has a catalytic FMN-containing domain whereas both PDH and GDH have a catalytic FAD-containing domains. LÄS MER
4. Structural studies on the extracellular flavocytochrome cellobiose dehydrogenase from Phanerochaete chrysosporium
Sammanfattning : Microorganisms that degrade lignocellulose play an important role in maintaining the global carbon cycle. Under cellulolytic conditions, the fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium produces an extracellular flavocytochrome, cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH), with a proposed role in lignocellulose degradation. 5. Improving the biocatalyst. Engineering of fungal oxidoreductases and thin-film electrodes for improvement of membraneless biofuel cells and carbohydrate biosensors
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents investigations for the improvement of electrical contact and catalytical properties of two fungal redox enzymes, cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), with electrodes and the use of the prepared electrodes as carbohydrate biosensors and in enzymatic biofuel cells. The performance of enzyme modified electrodes can be improved in two ways, by modifying the bioelement or by modifying the electrode. LÄS MER
