  1. 1. Prospective Applications of Microwaves in Medicine : Microwave Sensors for Orthopedic Monitoring and Burn Depth Assessment

    Författare :Syaiful Redzwan Mohd Shah; Robin Augustine; Taco Johan Blokhuis; Luca Roselli; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microwave sensors; split ring resonator; biomedical application; orthopedics; lower extremity injuries; craniosynostosis; burn assessment; clinical measurements; tissue dielectric properties; phantom; Engineering Science with specialization in Microwave Technology; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrovågsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, the use of microwave techniques for medical diagnostics has experienced impressive developments. It has demonstrated excellent competencies in various modalities such as using non-ionizing electromagnetic waves, providing non-invasive diagnoses, and having the ability to penetrate human tissues within the GHz range. 2. 2. Return to Work and Health-related Quality of Life after Severe Burn

    Författare :Caisa Öster; Lisa Ekselius; Morten Kildal; Mona Eklund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Burn; Return to work; Health-related quality of life; Outcome assessment; Rehabilitation; Injuries; Psychiatric Disorders; Personality Disorder; Psychiatry; Psykiatri; Psykiatri; Psychiatry;

    Sammanfattning : A major burn is one of the most severe traumas a person can experience, and recovery can be a protracted process. The principal aim was to increase the knowledge base regarding factors related to return to work and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after burns. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neuroendocrine Stress Response after Burn Trauma

    Författare :Andreas Lindahl; Bengt Gerdin; Lisa Ekselius; Kristofer Rubin; Riddez Louis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Burn; Injuries; Neuroendocrine; Intensive Care; Cortisol; Chromogranin A; Natriuretic peptides; Plastikkirurgi; Plastic Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Some aspects of the stress response during acute intensive care for severe burns are described and quantified by measuring hormonal and neuroendocrine patterns and relating these to organ function in the short term. This includes an assessment of whether there are markers for the severity of stress that are better than conventional descriptors of the severity of a burn in predicting failing organ function. Sammanfattning : Survival after severe burns has improved in recent decades, but there is limited information on the course of recovery after surviving a burn and on factors that can affect recovery. The aims of this thesis were to investigate the occurrence of physical and psychological problems after burns, and to examine the consequences of psychological problems for the clinical management of burn patients.
