1. Aspects of alkali chloride chemistry on deposit formation and high temperature corrosion in biomass and waste fired boilers
Sammanfattning : Combustion of biomass and waste has several environmental, economical and political advantages over the use of fossil fuels for the generation of heat and electricity. However, these fuels often have a significantly different composition and the combustion is therefore associated with additional operational problems. LÄS MER
2. Residues from biochemical production of transport biofuels in Northern Europe : combustion properties and applications
Sammanfattning : Residues from biochemical production of liquid transport biofuels will probably become available for energy use if more gasoline and diesel is substituted. For processes used in northern Europe they amount to 35-65 % of the feedstock energy and despite interest from energy companies, their fuel properties are largely unknown. LÄS MER
3. Fine particle emissions and slag formation in fixed-bed biomass combustion : aspects of fuel engineering
Sammanfattning : There is a consensus worldwide that the share of renewable energy sources should be increased to mitigate climate change. The strive to increase the renewable energy fraction can partly be met by an increased utilization of different biomass feedstocks. LÄS MER
4. Assessment of bio-based fuel ash effects on magnesia refractory materials in quicklime production kilns
Sammanfattning : Limestone is calcined into quicklime in lime kilns at temperatures above 1000°C. Heat is supplied through combustion inside the kilns, which are insulated with a lining of refractory bricks to mitigate heat loss and to protect the kiln from the hot, chemically aggressive, and mechanically abrasive environment. 5. Slag formation in fixed bed combustion of phosphorus-poor biomass
Sammanfattning : To handle a great demand for biomass, alternative biomasses beyond stem wood are being introduced into the solid fuel combustion market, fuels with generally higher (>0,5 wt-%) ash content and different fuel ash compositions compared to stem wood, such as forest residue, bark, grass and straw. Unfortunately, combustion of these alternative fuels often causes more ash related problems such as fouling, slagging and higher particle emissions compared to combustion of stem wood. LÄS MER
