  1. 1. Generation of Patient Specific Finite Element Head Models

    Författare :Johnson Ho; Svein Kleiven; Michael Gilchrist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Injury Prevention; Patient Specific; Finite Element Head Model; Anatomical Structures; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a great burden for the society worldwide and the statisticsindicates a relative constant total annual rate of TBI. It seems that the present preventativestrategies are not sufficient. To be able to develop head safety measures against accidents ine.g. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Segmentation and Visualisation of Human Brain Structures

    Författare :Roger Hult; Ewert Bengtsson; Lennart Thurfjell; Håkan Hall; Ingrid Agartz; Arvid Lundervold; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bildanalys; segmentation; visualisation; brain; cortex; hippocampus; autoradiography; MRI; PET; ROI; Bildanalys; Image analysis; Bildanalys; Computerized Image Analysis; datoriserad bildanalys;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the focus is mainly on the development of segmentation techniques for human brain structures and of the visualisation of such structures. The images of the brain are both anatomical images (magnet resonance imaging (MRI) and autoradigraphy) and functional images that show blood flow (functional magnetic imaging (fMRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and single photon emission tomograpy (SPECT)). 3. 3. Anatomical and functional characterization of serotonergic neurocircuitry

    Författare :Iskra Pollak Dorocic; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The serotonin system arises from a small collection of brainstem structures called the raphe nuclei and innervates much of the central nervous system. A relatively small number of serotonin neurons modulate a wide variety of functions, from the basic such as homeostatic regulation of sleep and feeding to more complex roles in mood, motivation and emotion. 4. 4. Anatomical and physiological aspects of anorectal dysfunction

    Författare :Geert Morren; Anders Mellgren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Anal canal; Anal-sphincter repair; Audit; Magnetic resonance imaging; Magnetic stimulation; Latency; Pelvic floor; Sacral roots; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: To analyse the results of anal-sphincter repair; to examine the feasibility of motor latency measurements of the anal sphincter after magnetic sacral stimulation in healthy subjects, patients with a spinal cord injury and patients with faecal incontinence, using a new recording technique; to study, in the same 3 groups, the effects ofphasic magnetic sacral root stimulation on the anal sphincter and rectum; to describe normal, undisturbed anatomy of the anal canal and perianal structures in both men and nulliparous women using high-resolution phased array magnetic resonance imaging; to study pelvic floor movements in healthy volunteers of both sexes using a new instrument.Methods: Latencies were recorded with an intraanal, bipolar sponge electrode and an intrarectal ground electrode. 5. 5. Modeling and Simulation of Microdialysis in the Deep Brain Structures

    Författare :Elin Diczfalusy; Karin Wårdell; Mats Andersson; Joakim Wren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Microdialysis is a method for monitoring of the local biochemical environment in a region of interest. The method uses a catheter, mimicking the function of a blood capillary, to sample substances from the surrounding medium through diffusion. LÄS MER
