2. Probabilistic and Prominence-driven Incremental Argument Interpretation in Swedish
Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates how grammatical functions in transitive sentences (i.e., `subject' and `direct object') are distributed in written Swedish discourse with respect to morphosyntactic as well as semantic and referential (i.e. LÄS MER
3. Algorithmic Bounds for Presumably Hard Combinatorial Problems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we present new worst case computational bounds on algorithms for some of the most well-known NP-complete and #P-complete problems and their optimization variants. We consider graph problems like Longest Path, Maximum Cut, Number of Perfect Matchings, Chromatic and Domatic Number, as well as Maximum k-Satisfiability and Set Cover. LÄS MER
4. New insights into the control of small artery function in human pregnancy and estrogen receptor beta knockout mice
Sammanfattning : Background: Available data clearly indicates functional and morphological differences between small and large arteries, and observations from studies on large arteries may not be applicable to understand the physiology of small arteries (~200-300mum) that actively participate in the regulation of peripheral vascular resistance, blood pressure and flow to target organs. These events confer cardiovascular adaptation to normal pregnancy (NP), however they are disturbed in preeclampsia (PE) and in estrogen receptor beta knockout (ERbetaKO) mice at a certain age. 5. Effects of influenza A virus infections and interferon-gamma on synapse formation and function in hippocampal neurons in culture
Sammanfattning : The central nervous system (CNS) can be the target for several infections that include those with RNA viruses. The parenchyma of the CNS is considered an immuneprivileged site since it is protected behind the blood-brain barrier, expresses no or only low levels of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules and contains a paucity of antigenpresenting cells that prime an immune response.
