    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Persian; language technology; corpus; treebank; preprocessing; segmentation; part-of-speech tagging; dependency parsing; Computational Linguistics; Datorlingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents open source resources in the form of annotated corpora and modules for automatic morphosyntactic processing and analysis of Persian texts. More specifically, the resources consist of an improved part-of-speech tagged corpus and a dependency treebank, as well as tools for text normalization, sentence segmentation, tokenization, part-of-speech tagging, and dependency parsing for Persian. 2. 2. MaltParser -- An Architecture for Inductive Labeled Dependency Parsing

    Författare :Johan Hall; Joakim Nivre; Welf Löwe; Martin Volk; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dependency Parsing; Support Vector Machines; Machine Learning; Language technology; Språkteknologi; Computer and Information Sciences Computer Science; Data- och informationsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis presents a software architecture for inductive labeled dependency parsing of unrestricted natural language text, which achieves a strict modularization of parsing algorithm, feature model and learning method such that these parameters can be varied independently. The architecture is based on the theoretical framework of inductive dependency parsing by Nivre \citeyear{nivre06c} and has been realized in MaltParser, a system that supports several parsing algorithms and learning methods, for which complex feature models can be defined in a special description language. 3. 3. Att skriva i naturorienterande ämnen i skolan

    Författare :Åsa af Geijerstam; Caroline Liberg; Åke Viberg; Lars Sigfred Evensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Linguistics; text linguistics; scientific literacy; writing instruction; reader text relationship; systemic linguistics; applied linguistics; Lingvistik; Linguistics; Lingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : When children encounter new subjects in school, they are also faced with new ways of using language. Learning science thus means learning the language of science, and writing is one of the ways this is accomplished. The present study investigates writing in natural sciences in grades 5 and 8 in Swedish schools. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Abstraction and authority in textbooks : The textual paths towards specialized language

    Författare :Agnes Edling; Caroline Liberg; Åke Viberg; Jan Anward; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; textbook research; text linguistics; content area reading; reader text relationship; literacy education; systemic linguistics; applied linguistics; Linguistics; Lingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : During a few hours of a school day, a student might read textbook texts which are highly diversified in terms of abstraction. Abstraction is a central feature of specialized language and the transition from everyday language to specialized language is one of the most important things formal education can offer students. Sammanfattning : This thesis describes certain areas in the grammar of the little-known Kuot language, spoken by some 1,500 people in New Ireland Province in Papua New Guinea. Kuot is an isolate, and is the only non-Austronesian (Papuan) language of that province. The analyses presented here are based on original data from 18 months of linguistic fieldwork. LÄS MER
