  1. 26. Towards Natural Control of Artificial Limbs

    Författare :Max Jair Ortiz Catalan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; epimysial electrodes; robotic prostheses; sensory feedback.; real-time and simultaneous prosthetic control; neurostimulation; pattern recognition; advanced prosthetic control; neural interfaces; artificial limbs; cuff electrodes; bone-anchored prostheses; osseointegration;

    Sammanfattning : The use of implantable electrodes has been long thought as the solution for a more natural control of artificial limbs, as these offer access to long-term stable and physiologically appropriate sources of control, as well as the possibility to elicit appropriate sensory feedback via neurostimulation. Although these ideas have been explored since the 1960’s, the lack of a long-term stable human-machine interface has prevented the utilization of even the simplest implanted electrodes in clinically viable limb prostheses. 2. 27. Arctic geographies in the making : understanding political economy, institutional strategic selectivity, and agency in tourism pathway development

    Författare :Dorothee Bohn; Doris A. Carson; Linda Lundmark; E. Carina H. Keskitalo; Dimitri Ioannides; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Arctic tourism; political economy; institutional strategic selectivity; agency; tourism pathways; uneven development; metagovernance; regional development funding; resort enclave; firm financing;

    Sammanfattning : Tourism has long been promoted as a catalyst for socio-economic development in sparsely populated areas based on the commodification of culture and natural environments. This thesis examines the case of Arctic tourism in the two neighbouring northern counties of Finnish Lapland and Norrbotten (Sweden). LÄS MER

  3. 28. Evaluating and optimizing surveillance and response strategies for malaria elimination in the Asia Pacific region

    Författare :Chris Cotter; Andreas Mårtensson; Arantxa Roca-Feltrer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; malaria elimination; surveillance and response; reactive case detection; sociobehavorial; reactive drug administration; molecular diagnostics; microsatellite genotyping; Plasmodium vivax; low transmission;

    Sammanfattning : Malaria case investigation and reactive case detection (RACD) activities are widely implemented in low transmission settings to identify additional malaria infections and gather surveillance information, but with varying degrees of success. Challenges in conducting RACD include poor diagnostic sensitivity (particularly for low density and asymptomatic infections), knowledge gaps among those conducting RACD, financial and resource constraints, and operational and logistical difficulties. 4. 29. Least-Violating Motion Planning for Traffic-Compliant Autonomous Driving

    Författare :Jesper Karlsson; Jana Tumova; Tichakorn Wongpiromsarn; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Motion Planning; Formal Methods; Temporal Logic; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decade, autonomous vehicles has received an increasing amount of interest from industries and research institutes. For autonomous vehicles to properly function alongside human drivers, safety guarantees are a must. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Hatbrott? : homosexuella kvinnors och mäns berättelser om utsatthet för brott

    Författare :Eva Tiby; Malin Åkerström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Bias crime; fear of crime; gay; gender; hate crime; heterosexism; homophobia; homosexuality; lesbian; lifestyle; victimology; victim studies; kriminologi; Criminology;

    Sammanfattning : During the nineties, the hate crimes concept has been used to describe victimization on the basis of group characteristics. The Swedish penal Code 29:2:7 states that crimes committed against a person due to that person's race, color, nationality, ethnicity, religious beliefs or other similar circumstances, such as a person's sexual orientation, can elicit a more severe punishment than crimes without such motives.
