11. Glypican-1: Structural and functional analysis of the N-glycosylated human protein
Sammanfattning : Glypicans are multifunctional cell surface heparan sulphate proteoglycans co-regulating numerous signalling pathways, and are thereby involved in the control of cellular division, differentiation, and morphogenesis. The heparan sulphate (HS) chains are responsible for many of those biological functions; nevertheless recent studies suggest functional roles for the glypican core proteins in mediating the signalling of various growth factors. 12. Microstructural characterization of Haynes 282 after heat treatment and forging
Sammanfattning : Over the past 75 years, solid-solution strengthened superalloys have been one among the most widely used materials for long term applications at elevated temperatures. The combination of properties such as high temperature strength, resistance to oxidation and corrosion, fabricability, and creep strength make them an unusual class of materials, attracting researchers and scientists to explore its full potential. 13. Anisotropy, disorder and frustration in magnetic nanoparticle systems and spin glasses
Sammanfattning : Magnetic properties of nanoparticle systems and spin glasses have been investigated theoretically, and experimentally by squid magnetometry. Two model three-dimensional spin glasses have been studied: a long-range Ag(11 at% Mn) Heisenberg spin glass and a short-range Fe0.5Mn0.5TiO3 Ising spin glass. 14. Resistive studies of vortices and fluctuations in single crystal YBa2Cu3O7-
Sammanfattning : High-temperature superconductors have been intensely studiedsince the discovery, almost 20 years ago. Their layeredstructure, extreme type-II behavior, large anisotropy, andstrong fluctuations have led to a large number of new andinteresting problems. LÄS MER
15. Elastic and inelastic scattering effects in conductance measurements at the nanoscale : A theoretical treatise
Sammanfattning : Elastic and inelastic interactions are studied in tunnel junctions of a superconducting nanoelectromechanical setup and in response to resent experimental superconducting scanning tunneling microscope findings on a paramagnetic molecule. In addition, the electron density of molecular graphene is modeled by a scattering theory approach in very good agreement with experiment. LÄS MER
