11. The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of clevidipine, a new ultrashort-acting calcium antagonist, in different animal species and man
Sammanfattning : Clevidipine is a new ultrashort-acting calcium antagonist of the dihydropyridine type developed for reduction and control of blood pressure in connection with cardiac surgery. The aim of this thesis was to characterise the in vitro hydrolysis rate of clevidipine in different biological matrices and the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in animal species and various human populations. 12. A Comparative Study of Head Development in Mexican Axolotl and Australian Lungfish: Cell Migration, Cell Fate and Morphogenesis
Sammanfattning : The development of the vertebrate head is a complex process involving interactions between a multitude of cell types and tissues. This thesis describes the development of the cranial neural crest and of the visceral arch muscles in the head of two species. LÄS MER
13. Entanglement and Quantum Computation from a Geometric and Topological Perspective
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we investigate geometric and topological structures in the context of entanglement and quantum computation.A parallel transport condition is introduced in the context of Franson interferometry based on the maximization of two-particle coincidence intensity. LÄS MER
14. Crystallization in additive manufacturing of metallic glass
Sammanfattning : Metallic glasses are non-crystalline metals that are obtained by rapid cooling of the melt to bypass crystallization. The amorphous atomic structure shows enhanced properties relative to the crystalline counterpart. For example, enhanced mechanical properties, improved corrosion resistance, as well as excellent soft magnetic properties. LÄS MER
15. Biosensor surface chemistry for oriented protein immobilization and biochip patterning
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis is focused on two methods for protein immobilization to biosensor surfaces for future applications in protein microarray formats. The common denominator is a surface chemistry based on a gold substrate with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of functionalized alkanethiolates. LÄS MER
