1. Biochip design based on tailored ethylene glycols
Sammanfattning : Studies of biomolecular interactions are of interest for several reasons. Beside basic research, the knowledge gained from such studies is also very valuable in for example drug target identification. Medical care is another area where biomolecules may be used as biomarkers to aid physicians in making correct diagnosis. LÄS MER
2. Biosensor surface chemistry for oriented protein immobilization and biochip patterning
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis is focused on two methods for protein immobilization to biosensor surfaces for future applications in protein microarray formats. The common denominator is a surface chemistry based on a gold substrate with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of functionalized alkanethiolates. LÄS MER
3. Folded polypeptide scaffolds for biosensor and biochip applications : design, synthesis, functionalisation and characterisation
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the design, synthesis and evaluation of functional molecular units intended for use in biosensor and microarray applications. A flexible, synthetic helix-loop-helix polypeptide that dimerises to form four-helix bundles was used as a scaffold and was modified with affinity ligands and fluorescent probes to specifically bind a target biomolecule and report on this event in an integrated process. 4. Hydrogels of conjugated polyelectrolytes for biosensor and biochip applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the use of conjugated polyelectrolytes (CPEs) in biosensor devices. The method is based on non-covalent assembly of the biomolecule of interest and the CPE functioning as the reporter, in one case as a transducer, of biomolecular events. LÄS MER
5. Biochemical and genetic markers after subarachnoid haemorrhage
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Background: Subarachnoid haemorrhage is a devastating disease with high morbidity and mortality despite novel treatment options are available. There are no established methods to measure the brain damage occurring due to the bleed and its complications and to predict early neurological outcome of the disease. LÄS MER
