16. Deep Learning for Wildfire Progression Monitoring Using SAR and Optical Satellite Image Time Series
Sammanfattning : Wildfires have coexisted with human societies for more than 350 million years, always playing an important role in affecting the Earth's surface and climate. Across the globe, wildfires are becoming larger, more frequent, and longer-duration, and tend to be more destructive both in lives lost and economic costs, because of climate change and human activities. 17. Synthetic-Aperture Radar Imaging of Forests in the VHF and UHF Bands: Electromagnetic Models and Data Analysis
Sammanfattning : Synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) is a technique which can image the Earth’s surface, from a spaceborne or airborne platform, irrespective of daylight or cloud cover. During the last decades there has been an increasing interest in using SAR for estimation of forest parameters. LÄS MER
18. Ultrawideband-Ultrawidebeam Synthetic Aperture Radar – Signal Processing and Applications
Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents practical issues in Ultrawideband – Ultrawidebeam (UWB) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) signal processing and crucial applications developed on UWB SAR. In the context of this dissertation, UWB SAR refers to the SAR systems utilizing large fractional bandwidth signals and synthesizing long apertures associated with wide antenna beamwidths. LÄS MER
19. Practical Consideration on Ultrawideband Synthetic Aperture Radar Data Processing
Sammanfattning : The practical considerations in ultrawideband (UWB) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data processing in general and UWB SAR imaging in particular are clarified and presented in detail in this thesis. They are imaging algorithm, impulse response function in SAR imaging (IRF-SAR), apodization, RF interference (RFI) and SAR image quality measurement. LÄS MER
20. Urban Area Information Extraction From Polarimetric SAR Data
Sammanfattning : Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) has been used for various remote sensing applications since more information could be obtained in multiple polarizations. The overall objective of this thesis is to investigate urban area information extraction from PolSAR data with the following specific objectives: (1) to exploit polarimetric scattering model-based decomposition methods for urban areas, (2) to investigate effective methods for man-made target detection, (3) to develop edge detection and superpixel generation methods, and (4) to investigate urban area classification and segmentation.
