21. Phenotypic responses of zooplankton to variable conditions
Sammanfattning : Organisms are continually challenged by multiple threats in the environment, and such threats are seldom constant in either time or space. Therefore, organisms must maintain physiological, behavioural, morphological and life- history adaptations across environments to prevent reductions in fitness. LÄS MER
22. Computational fluid dynamics for dispersion calculation in urban surroundings
Sammanfattning : Increased knowledge on dispersion processes in urban environment will enhance the ability in the society to handle events where releases of toxic substances can occur. Also, the ability to increase preparedness at locations where such events potentially can emerge. LÄS MER
23. Adsorption Studies with Liquid Chromatography : Experimental Preparations for Thorough Determination of Adsorption Data
Sammanfattning : Analytical chemistry is a field with a vast variety of applications. A robust companion in the field is liquid chromatography, the method used in this thesis, which is an established workhorse and a versatile tool in many different disciplines. LÄS MER
24. Stable High-Order Finite Difference Methods for Aerodynamics
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the numerical solution of time-dependent partial differential equations (PDE) is studied. In particular high-order finite difference methods on Summation-by-parts (SBP) form are analysed and applied to model problems as well as the PDEs governing aerodynamics. LÄS MER
25. Non-reflecting Boundary Conditions for Wave Propagation Problems
Sammanfattning : We consider two aspects of non-reflecting boundaryconditions for wave propagation problems. First we evaluate aproposed Perfectly Matched Layer (PML) method for thesimulation of advective acoustics. It is shown that theproposed PML becomes unstable for a certain combination ofparameters. A stabilizing procedure is proposed andimplemented. LÄS MER
