21. Quantum acoustics with propagating phonons
Sammanfattning : Surface acoustic waves (SAWs) are mechanical vibrations that propagate on the surface of solids while dissipating little power, consequently enabling them to propagate freely over long distances. The speed and wavelength of SAWs are reduced a five order of magnitude compared to when light is used as a carrier at gigahertz frequencies. LÄS MER
22. Climate Change and Industrial Technology Transfer. A Study of Chinese Conditions
Sammanfattning : Motivated by concerns about anthropogenic climate change, this thesis contributes to the better appreciation of mechanisms that would allow actors in China, foreign as well as Chinese, to exert a positive influence on the country's industrial technology status. China is the world's second largest emitter of greenhouse gases - the lions' share of which emanates from industrial and electricity production. LÄS MER
23. The effects of damping treatment on the sound transmission loss of honeycomb panels
Sammanfattning : In the industry, all passenger vehicles are treated with damping materials to reduce structure-borne sound. Though these damping materials are effective to attenuate structure-borne sound, they have little or no effect on the air-borne sound transmission. LÄS MER
24. Regenerative Chatter Vibration in Indexable Drills : Modeling and Simulation
Sammanfattning : An indexable insert drill is a drill which uses cutting inserts to make holes. Undesirable sound generated by this type of drill has always been considered as a problem in workshops. The focus of this thesis is to investigate the mechanism behind these vibrations, to model it and to provide guidelines for reducing the sound in future drill designs. LÄS MER
25. The urban form and the sound environment - Tools and approaches
Sammanfattning : Cities are always confronted with transition and adaptation. Awareness on urban environmental quality is leading the vision about the built environment’s resilience and sustainability, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary framework for urbanisation processes. LÄS MER
