6. Modeling of dielectrophoresis in micro and nano systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents models and simulations of dielectrophoretic separation of micro and nano particles. The fluid dynamics involved and the dielectric properties of water inside single-walled carbon nanotube are studied as well. LÄS MER
7. Modeling Carbon Nanotube Field Effect Transistors with Fixed and Suspended Nanotube Gates
Sammanfattning : Carbon nanotubes (CNT) exhibit a range of properties that make them well suited for nanoelectronic and nanoelectromechanical devices. One-dimensional field effect transistors based on single-walled CNTs have demonstrated excellent electrical characteristics and are competitive with silicon-based solutions, and oscillators based on suspended CNTs have been shown to work at gigahertz frequencies with Q-factors exceeding 10$^3$. 8. Computational Studies of Nanotube Growth, Nanoclusters and Cathode Materials for Batteries
Sammanfattning : Density functional theory has been used to investigate cathode materials for rechargeable batteries, carbon nanotube interactions with catalyst particles and transition metal catalyzed hydrogen release in magnesium hydride nanoclusters. An effort has been made to the understand structural and electrochemical properties of lithium iron silicate (Li2FeSiO4) and its manganese-doped analogue. LÄS MER
9. Monte Carlo simulation of electron transport in semiconducting zigzag carbon nanotubes
Sammanfattning : Since the advent of nanoscale material based electronic devices, there has been a considerable interest in exploring carbon nanotubes from fundamental science and technological perspectives. In carbon nanotubes, the atoms form a cylindrical structure with a diameter of the order 1nm. LÄS MER
10. Laser induced effects in carbon nanotubes : implications for Raman characterization of functionalized systems
Sammanfattning : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have attracted attention over the past decade because of their outstanding mechanical and electronic properties. These tiny tubular shells made of carbon atoms can be metallic or semiconducting and while having diameters of only about one nanometer (10-9 m), they can be up to centimeters in length, making them quasi one-dimensional (molecular wires).
