  1. 6. Increasing the impact and sustainability of safe drinking water supply systems in rural Bangladesh : Randomized experiments with interventions in project life cycle

    Författare :Md. Ahasan Habib; Prosun Bhattacharya; Anna Tompsett; Mushfiq Mobarak; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Randomized Experiment; Safe Drinking Water; Participation; Decision-Making; Contribution Requirements; Cost-effectiveness; Faecal Coliform; Arsenic; Tubewell; Cleaning; Maintenance; Impact; Sustainability; Bangladesh; Randomiserat Experiment; Säkert Dricksvatten; Deltagande; Beslutsfattande; Bidragskrav; Kostnadseffektivitet; Fekal Koliform; Arsenik; Tubewell; Rengöring; Underhåll; Påverkan; Hållbarhet; Bangladesh; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Tillgång till rent dricksvatten är en global utmaning, vilket återspeglas i hållbar utvecklingsmål 6. I Bangladesh är det en brådskande fråga att överbrygga klyftan mellan de som har säkert hanterat dricksvatten och de med förbättrade källor. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Hydrogeological and geochemical assessment of aquifer systems with geogenic arsenic in Southeastern Bangladesh : Targeting low arsenic aquifers for safe drinking water supplies in Matlab

    Författare :Mattias von Brömssen; Prosun Bhattacharya; David Polya; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arsenic; Bangladesh; drinking water; groundwater; sustainability; geochemistry; hydrogeology; modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Naturally occurring arsenic (As) in Holocene aquifers in Bangladesh have undermined a long success of supplying the population with safe drinking water. Arsenic is mobilised in reducing environments through reductive dissolution of Fe(III)-oxyhydroxides. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Supplying rural Kazakhstan with safe water and sanitation

    Författare :KAMSHAT TUSSUPOVA; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :access to drinking water; sanitation; rural Kazakhstan; willingness to pay;

    Sammanfattning : Access to safe drinking water and sanitation is essential for both individual and population health as well as for quality of life and dignity. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) require nations to ensure adequate water supply and sanitation for all. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Why poor children stay sick : Water sanitation hygiene and child health in rural Malawi

    Författare :Per Lindskog; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : The impact of an improved method of drinking water supply upon child health was evaluated in a rural area in southern Malawi. A prospective cohort srudy was made before and after the intervention with a gravityfed,piped water and a sanitation and health education programme using intervention and comparison groups. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The Bolivian Altiplano (BA) is a high plateau located in the western part of the country at an altitude of 3,600 to 3,900 meters above sea level and is bordered by the Eastern and Western Cordillera. Within the BA there is a large endorheic hydrologic system linking the Titicaca Lake in the north the Desaguadero River, lakes Uru-Uru and Poopó in the central part; and the Lacajahuira River and Coipasa and Uyuni salt pans in the south.
