31. Palladium(0)-Catalyzed Spirocyclization and Carbonylation Reactions : Ligands Targeting the Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor
Sammanfattning : Palladium(0)-catalyzed chemistry represents one of the most important methods for the construction of carbon-carbon bonds, which are ubiquitous in organic compounds. The first part of this thesis describes the palladium(0)-catalyzed diastereoselective Mizoroki-Heck reaction of Vince lactam-derived precursors for the formation of spiroindolines (paper I) and spirooxindoles, which are scaffolds present in several natural products with interesting biological activity. 32. Transcriptional activity of PPARγ in primary human adipocytes
Sammanfattning : The prevalence of obesity is increasing in most parts of the world and is a strong risk factor for the development of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and hypertension. Adipose tissue is mainly composed of adipocytes which store energy in the form of triglycerides and release it as free fatty acids. LÄS MER
33. NISOLDIPINE : Clinical, biochemical, pharmacokinetic and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : Nisoldipine is a new calcium channel blocker of the I ,4-dihydropyridine type. It possesses more vasoselective properties than nifedipine. LÄS MER
34. The oesophageal mucosa in reflux disease - endoscopic appearance and tissue structure
Sammanfattning : Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) is very common in especially the western world. The cardinal symptoms are heartburn or regurgitations and are caused by the reflux of noxious compounds from the stomach/duodenum to the oesophagus. LÄS MER
35. Haemostatic and inflammatory alterations in hypertension and hyperlipidaemia, and the impact of angiotensin II
Sammanfattning : The process of atherosclerosis is multifactorial, and endothelial dysfunction is considered to precede atherosclerosis. Angiotensin (Ang) II, the main effector of renin-angiotensinaldosterone system (RAAS), is implicated in hypertension and has been shown to promote atherosclerosis. LÄS MER
