  1. 1. Pawsitive selection : Genetics of dog-human communication

    Författare :Mia Persson; Per Jensen; Lina Roth; Dominic Wright; Ádám Miklósi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Through domestication and recent selection, dogs have evolved a unique set of communicative skills to attract and redirect human attention. These social skills have not been seen to the same extent in socialised wolves and are therefore believed to have a significant genetic basis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Selection and use of affinity proteins developed by combinatorial engineering

    Författare :Kristofer Sandström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :phage display; combinatorial; selection; cd28; cllulosome; cellulose;

    Sammanfattning : In affinity protein biotechnology the selective bindingbetween a chosen protein and an interacting biomolecule isutilized for a variety of applications including bioseparation,detection and therapy. Traditionally, affinity proteinsrecruited for such applications have been derived from naturalproteins or immunoglobulins generated via immunization routes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Stereotyped B Cell Receptors in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia : Implications for Antigen Selection in Leukemogenesis

    Författare :Fiona Murray; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; Kostas Stamatopoulos; Gunilla Enblad; Gerard Tobin; Manlio Ferrarini; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic lymphocytic leukaemia; immunoglobulin genes; somatic hypermutation; stereotyped B cell receptors; antigen selection; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Biased immunoglobulin heavy variable (IGHV) gene usage and distinctive B-cell receptor (BCR) features have been reported in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), which may reflect clonal selection by antigens during disease development. Furthermore, the IGHV gene mutation status distinguishes two clinical entities of CLL, where patients with unmutated IGHV genes have an inferior prognosis compared to those with mutated IGHV genes. 4. 4. How Immigrants Invent : Evidence from Sweden

    Författare :Yannu Zheng; CIRCLE; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; First-generation immigrants; Migration policy; Occupation; Education; Region of origin; Age; Sector; Selection; Human capital; Adults; Children; Patent; Inventors; Second-generation immigrants;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the inventive performance of immigrants in Sweden based on a special database which links inventors to the general population of the country from 1985 to 2007. It shows that the inventive performance of immigrants is influenced by immigrants’ age at migration, region of origin, educational level, match between education and occupation and migration policy. 5. 5. Opportunity for natural selection in Sweden : a study of childhood mortality and differential reproductivity

    Författare :Helen M. E. Hed; Marianne Rasmuson; Aldur Eriksson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Opportunity for selection; Crow s index; Demography; Sweden; 1600-1980; Mortality; Fertility; genetik; Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Opportunity for natural selection in human populations has so far mainly been studied on anthropological data for tribal populations or on census data for nations. The present study is mainly based on data on individual lifehistories but also, for part of the longitudinal study, on census data. LÄS MER
