26. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air. 27. Modelling of Biomass Combustion in Furnaces
Sammanfattning : Biomass combustion in grate fired furnaces is an important approach to convert renewable biomass fuel to heat and electricity. It is not only used in the Swedish energy industry but also by a great number of Swedish households for domestic heating. Burning biomass has the advantage of being CO2 neutral. LÄS MER
28. From torrefaction to gasification : Pilot scale studies for upgrading of biomass
Sammanfattning : Increasing the share of biomass, preferably by replacing fossil fuels, is one way to mitigate the present climate change. Fossil coal can be directly replaced by co-combustion of coal and biomass and fossil engine fuels (gasoline and diesel) could potentially partly be replaced by synthetic renewable fuels produced via entrained flow gasification of biomass. 29. Studies in low temperature self-reduction of by-products from integrated iron and steelmaking
Sammanfattning : Within the last decade, the landfill tax in Sweden has increased over 70% with comparable rates in the UK and elsewhere in EU. This development, among others, highlights the incentive for increased recycling efforts of fine particulate solid by-products in the iron and steel making industry in order to avoid depositing costs and to recover valuable metal fractions. 30. Off-gassing from thermally treated lignocellulosic biomass
Sammanfattning : Off-gassing of hazardous compounds is, together with self-heating and dust explosions, the main safety hazards within large-scale biomass storage and handling. Formation of CO, CO2, and VOCs with concurrent O2 depletion can occur to hazardous levels in enclosed stored forest products. LÄS MER
