2. Basic and translational studies of follicular thyroid neoplasia
Sammanfattning : Thyroid tumors occur frequently in the general population and although the majority represents benign follicular adenomas (FTA), thyroid cancer constitutes 1% of all malignancies worldwide. Among the differentiated cancers, three main types are recognized, including the papillary and follicular forms (PTC and FTC) that originate from the follicular thyrocytes, and the medullary carcinoma that arises from the C-cells. 3. Genetic studies of follicular and mantle cell lymphoma
Sammanfattning : Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a malignancy derived from lymphoid tissues. In Sweden, non-Hodgkin lymphoma constituted 3% of all cancers recorded in 2003. Follicular and mantle cell lymphoma are the two types of non-Hodgkin lymphomas studied in this thesis. LÄS MER
4. Data analysis for discovering the protein profile dynamics of the human ovarian follicular fluid and BRAF mutated metastatic melanoma tissue. : -
Sammanfattning : Proteomics is widely utilized to understand the function of cellular processes at the molecular level. Using liquid chromatography interfaced with mass spectrometry (LC-MS)-based proteomics, thousands of proteins can be identified and quantified in a single experiment and their relationship and interactions can be analyzed. 5. Regulation of the germinal center response by T follicular helper cells and type I interferons
Sammanfattning : The protective effect of most currently available vaccines is dependent on high-affinity antibodies and long lived B cell memory, which develop within organized structures of secondary lymphoid organs called germinal centers (GCs). GC formation is supported by T follicular helper (Tfh) cells, a subset of CD4+ T cells that develop in parallel to other effector T cells and specifically localizes to B cell follicles. LÄS MER
