31. New Results on Combinatorial Algorithms
Sammanfattning : In this thesis improved upper bounds for several important combinatorial problems are provided. Below is a list of the main results showed in the thesis. The problem of determining whether a k-connected partial k-tree is isomorphic to subgraph of another partial k-tree is shown to be solvable in time O(nk+2). LÄS MER
32. Parallel algorithms and implementations for genetic analysis of quantitative traits
Sammanfattning : Many important traits in plants, animals and humans are quantitative, and most such traits are generally believed to be regulated by multiple genetic loci. Standard computational tools for analysis of quantitative traits use linear regression models for relating the observed phenotypes to the genetic composition of individuals in a population. LÄS MER
33. Development of a Multidimensional Residual Distribution Solver for Large Eddy Simulation of Industrial Turbulent Flows
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results of the author's research activity to develop a time-space accurate flow-solver for Large Eddy Simulations (LES), based on the Multidimensional Residual Distribution approach. The aim of this work is the attempt to develop a compact high-order algorithm which includes multidimensional flow physics, in hope of creating a better algorithm for LES of turbulent compressible flows. 34. Adaptive Solvers for High-Dimensional PDE Problems on Clusters of Multicore Processors
Sammanfattning : Accurate numerical solution of time-dependent, high-dimensional partial differential equations (PDEs) usually requires efficient numerical techniques and massive-scale parallel computing. In this thesis, we implement and evaluate discretization schemes suited for PDEs of higher dimensionality, focusing on high order of accuracy and low computational cost. LÄS MER
35. Computational modeling of polycrystals using gradient crystal plasticity
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats the modeling of grain size dependence inmicrostructure models of metals. It is shown how gradient hardening, in a thermodynamically consistent fashion, can be included into a crystal plasticity model, which is used as the constitutive model in each grain of the polycrystal.
