21. Thermodynamic Studies of the Fe-Pt System and “FeO”-Containing Slags for Application Towards Ladle Refining
Sammanfattning : In the present work, the thermodynamic activites of ironoxide, denoted as "FeO" in the slag systems Al2O3-"FeO", CaO-"FeO", "FeO"-SiO2, Al2O3-"FeO"-SiO2, CaO-"FeO"-SiO2and "FeO"-MgO-SiO2were investigated by employing the gasequilibration technique at steelmaking temperatures. Thestrategy was to expose the molten slag mixtures kept inplatinum crucibles for an oxygen potential, determined by aCO/CO2-ratio. LÄS MER
22. Nitrous oxide emission from soil : On extrapolation from soil environmental factors
Sammanfattning : Nitrous oxide(N20) is a natural component of the atmosphere which contributes both to the greenhouse effect and to the destruction of stratospheric ozone. National as well as global inventories indicate thatboth natural and anthropogenic emissions from terrestrial ecosystems constitute a large fraction of the annual loading of N20 on the atmosphere. 23. Nitric oxide modulates neutrophil function
Sammanfattning : An important role of the neutrophils is to attack and destroy microbial intruders. In order to do so, these leukocytes must adhere to the blood vessel wall, pass through the endothelial cell layer, move through the tissues to the point of infection, ingest the intruder and destroy it. 24. Fundamental Studies of Catalytic NOx Removal - Micro Kinetic Modelling, Monte Carlo Simulations and Flow Reactor Experiments
Sammanfattning : It is essential to decrease the CO2 emissions from vehicles, since CO2 is a greenhouse gas. One way to improve fuel economy and decrease CO2 emissions, is to run the engine with oxygen excess, so-called lean-burn operation. However, a major problem here is the reduction of the NOx in a lean atmosphere. LÄS MER
25. Critical Aspects of Delubrication and Sintering of Chromium-alloyed Powder Metallurgy Steels
Sammanfattning : The cost efficiency and performance of Powder Metallurgy (PM) steels can be improved by replacing conventionally used alloying elements such as copper and nickel with chromium. Utilizing chromium imposes a challenge in terms of processing due to its effect on powder compressibility and high oxygen affinity, the latter of which, to a certain extent, is dealt with by introducing chromium in prealloyed form that decreases its activity.
