21. Electrical bioimpedance cerebral monitoring
Sammanfattning : Neurologically related injuries cause a similar number of deaths as cancer, and brain damage is the second commonest cause of death in the world and probably the leading cause of permanent disability. The devastating effects of most cases of brain damage could be avoided if it were detected and medical treatment initiated in time. LÄS MER
22. Electrical Bioimpedance Cerebral Monitoring: Fundamental Steps towards Clinical Application
LÄS MER
23. The oesophageal route in clinical electrocardiology
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the clinical use of the oesophageal electrode in electrocardiology. The three areas covered are oesophageal electro- cardiography, the biophysics of transoesophageal atrial stimulation (TAS) and the clinical utility of TAS. The literature is reviewed with respect to these areas. LÄS MER
24. Feline stress : methodological considerations for non-invasive assessment of cats housed in groups and singly
Sammanfattning : Group-housing of domestic cats (Felis silvestris lybica) may induce a stress response with consequences such as cats developing infectious disease or problem behaviours. Still, there is no validated behavioural protocol to assess stress in cats. LÄS MER
25. Development of quantitative optical microscopy methods for single cell analysis
Sammanfattning : Optical microscopy has brought powerful methods to biological research, in particular the possibility to assay dynamic molecular processes within living individual cells. This thesis deals with various aspects of fluorescence and Raman microscopy, such as the possibility of avoiding cellular damage or stress caused by illumination, how to manipulate single cells for spectroscopic analysis and how to quantify images automatically.
