  1. 31. Apoptosis-related mechanisms in the immature brain after hypoxia-ischemia

    Författare :Xiaoyang Wang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :hypoxia-ischemia; neonatal; caspase; ERK; XIAP; EPO; asialoEPO; brain;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: To characterize the activation of caspases-3 and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) in the neonatal brain after hypoxia-ischemia (HI) injury and evaluate the neuroprotective effect of X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis (XIAP) protein, erythropoietin (EPO) and the non-erythropoietic derivative asialoEPO. Methods: Seven-day-old rats or 9-day-old mice were subjected to HI. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Breastfeeding and Becoming a Mother : Influences and Experiences of Mothers of Preterm Infants

    Författare :Renée Flacking; Uwe Ewald; Kerstin Hedberg Nyqvist; Staffan Janson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pediatrics; Breastfeeding; Becoming a mother; Preterm infants; Mothers; Register; Neonatal care; Neonatal unit; Socioeconomic status; Pediatrik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to expand the knowledge and understanding of the processes of breastfeeding and becoming a mother in mothers of preterm infants. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with 25 mothers, whose very preterm infants had received care in seven neonatal units (NU) in Sweden, 1-12 months after discharge (I-II). LÄS MER

  3. 33. Säg till om du önskar tolk - Kommunikation i neonatalvård mellan föräldrar och vårdpersonal när språkbarriärer föreligger

    Författare :Katarina Patriksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Communication; healthcare professionals; immigrants; interpreter; language barriers; neonatal;

    Sammanfattning : Family-centred neonatal care encourages parents to participate in the care of their child. When language barriers exist between healthcare personnel and parents, a third party is needed to achieve satisfactory communication. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging after brachial plexus injury and repair : Experimental and clinical study

    Författare :Grainne Bourke; Mikael Wiberg; Lev N. Novikov; Lars Dahlin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Brachial Plexus; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Neonatal; Diffusion Tensor Imaging;

    Sammanfattning : Brachial plexus injuries (BPI) cause permanent upper limb paralysis and serious disability in adults and children. Timely identification of the severity of nerve injury and early appreciation of the inane potential for recovery would revolutionise management. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Tolerance and injury mechanisms in the developing CNS

    Författare :Malin Gustavsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :hypoxia-ischemia; neonatal; brain; PARP-1; tolerance; global gene expression; apoptosis; cerebral blood flow;

    Sammanfattning : The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the development of hypoxic-ischemic (HI) brain injury has been the subject of extensive research yet a neuroprotective strategy to limit its progression is lacking.OBJECTIVES: The aim of the present thesis was to obtain a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in neonatal HI, specifically to study I) the involvement of Poly ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP)-1 in HI, II) the effect of hypoxic PC on brain injury and function after HI in the long-term perspective, III) the effect of hypoxic PC on global gene expression, in particular the involvement of apoptosis related genes, and IV) the vascular response to hypoxic PC.
