  1. 1. Värderingskonflikter i praktiken : Hantering av ambivalens vid en neonatal intensivvårdsavdelning

    Författare :Karin Götlind; Stina Johansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sociology; Ambivalence; Ideological dilemmas; Neonatal intensive–care; Parental involvement; Production of knowledge; Professional decisionmaking; Work organization; Sociologi; Sociology; Sociologi; Sociology; sociologi;

    Sammanfattning : At neonatal intensive–care units conflicts between basic values, such as the one between saving life and minimizing suffering, are constantly present. This study focuses on how the ambivalence thus created is dealt with in practice by medical staff, specifically focusing on the significance of contextual factors and how the organisation shapes the process of handling ambivalence. 2. 2. Aspects of neonatal intensive care and anesthesia : Thermal balance and respiratory management

    Författare :Victoria Karlsson; Johan Ågren; Lena Hellström-Westas; Filip Fredén; Valeria Perez de Sa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neonatal; anesthesia; kangaroo-mother-care; skin-to-skin care; carbon dioxide;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four articles originating from three studies conducted in the neonatal intensive care unit and the children’s operating deparment at Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden.The overall aim was to obtain new knowledge about thermal balance and care environment in extremely preterm infants during skin-to-skin care (SSC), evaluate different methods of intraoperative monitoring of carbon dioxide (CO2), and to investigate how different levels of inhaled oxygen affect infants’ oxygenation during anesthesia and surgery. 3. 3. The EEG of the Neonatal Brain – Classification of Background Activity

    Författare :Johan Löfhede; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hypoxia; newborn; segmentation; asphyxia; cerebral; classification; neonatal; EEG;

    Sammanfattning : The brain requires a continuous supply of oxygen and nutrients, and even a short period of reduced oxygen supply can cause severe and lifelong consequences for the affected individual. The unborn baby is fairly robust, but there are of course limits also for these individuals. The most sensitive and most important organ is the brain. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Breastfeeding and Becoming a Mother : Influences and Experiences of Mothers of Preterm Infants

    Nyckelord :Pediatrics; Breastfeeding; Becoming a mother; Preterm infants; Mothers; Register; Neonatal care; Neonatal unit; Socioeconomic status; Pediatrik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to expand the knowledge and understanding of the processes of breastfeeding and becoming a mother in mothers of preterm infants. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with 25 mothers, whose very preterm infants had received care in seven neonatal units (NU) in Sweden, 1-12 months after discharge (I-II). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Perspectives of Deep Learning for Neonatal Sepsis Detection

    Författare :Antoine Honoré; Saikat Chatterjee; Eric Herlenius; Guy Carrault; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Deep Learning; Neonatal Sepsis Detection; Normalizing Flows; Hidden Markov Models.; Djupinlärningsmodeller; Neonatal Sepsis detektion; Normaliserande Flöden; Dolda Markov modellerna.;

    Sammanfattning : Newborns, whether born at term or preterm, are highly vulnerable and face life-threatening situations during their initial weeks of life every year. Even with hospitalization in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and careful clinical monitoring, identifying infection-related incidents like sepsis is a challenging task. LÄS MER
