16. Non-linear Spectroscopy of Conical Intersections with XUV and X-ray Photons
Sammanfattning : Conical intersections (CIs) appear in a molecule due to the breakdown of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation when the energy difference between two or more electronic states decreases. CIs are known to play a crucial role in processes such as photosynthesis and vision in the human eye, and therefore it is important to probe the existence of such entities in molecules. LÄS MER
17. Blind Signal Separation by Second Order Statistics
Sammanfattning : The problem of separating uncorrelated signals from equally many observed mixtures is considered in this thesis. Each observed signal is modeled as a sum of original signals filtered through unknown linear filters. LÄS MER
18. DNA Electrophoresis in Polymer Solutions. Separation Mechanisms studied by Fluorescence and Linear Dichroism Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Capillary electrophoresis of DNA in polymer solutions is a promising technique for separation of DNA molecules according to size. The primary aim of the work presented in this thesis was to get a better understanding of the electrophoretic separation mechanism in these media by studying the DNA migration behavior during electrophoresis in both entangled and non-entangled polymer solutions using linear dichroism spectroscopy and fluorescence video microscopy. 19. Open-Loop Optimal Control of Chromatographic Separation Processes
Sammanfattning : Chromatography is an important separation process for several industries due to its ability to separate components with similar physical properties, which are difficult to separate otherwise. This method may also give high product purity, which is necessary for production of biopharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. LÄS MER
20. Modelling Interfacial Details in Tyre/Road Contact Adhesion Forces and Non-Linear Contact Stiffness
Sammanfattning : Rolling resistance, noise generation, and wear are all determined by the interaction process between the rolling automotive vehicle tyre and the road. A deep understandingof the interaction process is needed for optimisation aiming at reducing these effects. LÄS MER
