1. To “leaf” or not to “leaf” : Understanding the metabolic adjustments associated with leaf senescence
Sammanfattning : The adequate execution of the final developmental stage of a leaf, leaf senescence, is crucial to the long-term survival of the plant. During senescence cellular structures like membranes, proteins, lipids and macromolecules are degraded and released nutrients are relocated to developing parts of the plant, such as young leaves, stems, flowers, siliques and ultimately seeds that are dependent on this nutrient remobilization. 2. From green to yellow : a leaf story
3. Preparation of leaf mitochondria and studies on mitochondrial photorespiratory reactions
Sammanfattning : A procedure for the preparation of spinach leaf mitochondria was developed. The procedure combines differential centrifugation, partition in dextran- polyethyleneglycol two-phase system and Percoli density gradient centri- fugation. The different steps separate the material mainly according to size, surface properties and density, respectively. LÄS MER
4. Protein phosphorylation in plant mitochondria
Sammanfattning : Protein phosphorylation in the subcompartments of plant mitochondria was investigated by labelling with [gamma-32P]ATP and by SDS-PAGE/autoradiography. About 20 proteins in inside-out inner mitochondrial membranes from potato tubers were phosphorylated by endogenous protein kinases when incubated with [gamma-32P]ATP. LÄS MER
5. Respiratory NAD(P)H dehydrogenases of plants - Gene identity and expression in response to light and cold
Sammanfattning : The respiratory chain of plants contains class 2 NAD(P)H dehydrogenases, not present in animals. The functional roles of these enzymes have been elusive for a long time. Two cDNAs, homologous to class 2 NADH dehydrogenase genes of yeast and E. coli, were isolated from potato leaves. LÄS MER
