Sammanfattning : The focal point of all papers in this thesis is income inequality in Chile. In some of them household income is analyzed, in others monthly earnings or the wage rate are used. Sammanfattning : This dissertation examines the changing time allocation of men and women at the turn of the 21st century in Sweden, an interesting case given its strong position concerning female labor force participation, maternal employment, and gender equality. The aim is to examine to what extent gender and parenthood affect various types of time allocation, both in the labor market and household, and provide new insights into changes occurring over time between 1990 and 2010. Sammanfattning : Structural transformation of the labor market and the aggregate economyWomen's increased involvement in the economy has been the most significant change in labor markets during the past century. In this paper, I account for this period of structural change of the labor market in a macroeconomic model, and study how the increase in female labor force participation has affected the economy's response to aggregate shocks. Sammanfattning : Liquidity Effects in Healthcare Consumption: Evidence from Swedish Disability Insurance RecipientsThis paper studies the role of liquidity constraints in healthcare consumption. Combining administrative data on monthly income, liquid assets, prescription drug purchases, and healthcare utilization for the universe of Swedish disability insurance recipients, I find that liquidity-constrained individuals time prescription drug purchases to paydays and reduce prescription purchases more in response to higher prices compared to unconstrained households with similar monthly income.
