  1. 16. Precision molecular spectroscopy in the near- and mid-infrared using frequency comb-based Fourier transform spectrometers

    Författare :Adrian Hjältén; Aleksandra Foltynowicz; Ove Axner; Adam Fleisher; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optical frequency comb; molecular spectroscopy; Fourier transform spectrometer; high resolution; mid-infrared; line list; double-resonance spectroscopy; difference frequency generation; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Absorption spectroscopy is a powerful scientific tool for non-invasive and remote sensing applications ranging from atmospheric monitoring to astrophysics. In spectroscopic detection schemes it is necessary to have spectral models for any molecular species to be detected or quantified. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Low-Energy Modes of Molecules and Atoms Chemisorbed on a Metal Surface. CO and O on Pt(111) Studied by Infrared Spectroscopy

    Författare :Ulrika Engström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dipole-allowed modes; low-energy modes; carbon monoxide; Infrared spectroscopy; dipole-forbidden modes; Pt 111 ; anti-absorption; Fermi resonance; atomic oxygen;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the investigation of low-energy metal-adsorbate vibrational modes of CO molecules and O atoms chemisorbed on a Pt(111) surface using infrared spectroscopy (IRS). The infrared selection rule states that only vibrational modes having a non-vanishing component of its dynamical dipole moment perpendicular to the surface can be directly excited using IRS, known as dipole-allowed modes. 3. 18. Faraday modulation spectroscopy : Theoretical description and experimental realization for detection of nitric oxide

    Författare :Jonas Westberg; Ove Axner; Gerard Wysocki; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Faraday modulation spectroscopy FAMOS ; Westberg-Wang-Axner WWA method; Fourier coefficients; Lineshape asymmetries; Nitric oxide NO ; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Faraday modulation spectroscopy (FAMOS) is a laser-based spectroscopic dispersion technique for detection of paramagnetic molecules in gas phase. This thesis presents both a new theoretical description of FAMOS and experimental results from the ultra-violet (UV) as well as the mid-infrared (MIR) regions. LÄS MER

    Författare :Andreas Mattsson; Lars Österlund; Gunnar Niklasson; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Håkan Rensmo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : TiO2 based photocatalysis is an emerging green nanotechnology that can be used forremoval of pollutants from water and air. It has had an increased research interest, bothfrom an application and fundamental point of view, during the last decades. LÄS MER
