  1. 1. Optical Frequency Comb Fourier Transform Spectroscopy

    Författare :Alexandra C. Johansson; Aleksandra Foltynowicz; Ove Axner; Jürgen Röpcke; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optical frequency comb spectroscopy; Fourier transform; molecular absorption dispersion; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Fourier transform spectroscopy (FTS) based on optical frequency combs is an excellent spectroscopic tool as it provides broadband molecular spectra with high spectral resolution and an absolutely calibrated frequency scale. Moreover, the equidistant comb mode structure enables efficient coupling of the comb to enhancement cavities, yielding high detection sensitivity. LÄS MER

    Författare :Isak Silander; Ove Axner; Aleksandra Foltynowicz; Jong Chow; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optical resonators; Fiber Laser; Parametric oscillators; Optical frequency comb; Infrared; Spectroscopy heterodyne; Spectroscopy molecular; Absorption; Dispersion; Lineshapes; Optical standards and testing; Refractivety measurements;

    Sammanfattning : An optical cavity comprises a set of mirrors between which light can be reflected a number of times. The selectivity and stability of optical cavities make them extremely useful as frequency references or discriminators. LÄS MER

  3. 3. High-capacity short-reach optical communications

    Författare :Rui Lin; Jiajia Chen; Lena Wosinska; Yu Yu; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; optical communication; optical frequency comb; radio-over-fiber; optical interconnect; fiberoptisk kommunikation; optisk frekvenskams; Radio-över –fiber; passiva optiska interconnects; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The global traffic is experiencing an exponential growth posing severe challenges to the communication networks in terms of capacity. As a future-proof technology fiber communication is widely implemented in different network segments, which can be categorized by transmission distance as long-haul and short-reach. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Power Consumption and Joint Signal Processing in Fiber-Optical Communication

    Författare :Lars Lundberg; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; coherent detection; erbium-doped fiber amplifier; phase-tracking; optical amplifier; optical frequency comb; digital signal processing; carrier-recovery; spatial division multiplexing; power consumption; Fiber-optical communication; multicore fiber; Raman amplification; energy-efficiency;

    Sammanfattning : The power consumption of coherent fiber-optical communication systems is becoming increasingly important, for both environmental and economic reasons. The data traffic on the Internet is increasing at a faster pace than that at which optical network equipment is becoming more energy efficient, which means that the overall power consumption of the Internet is increasing.
