21. Striving for purity : interviews with people with malodorous exuding ulcers and their nurses
Sammanfattning : The overall purpose of this thesis is two-fold; to illuminate the meaning of living with ‘impurity’ in terms of malodorous exuding ulcers, and the meaning of caring for people with ‘impure’ bodies in institutions and in people’s homes. The thesis comprises four papers based on studies using qualitative methods. LÄS MER
22. Studies of Topological Superconductors via Defects
Sammanfattning : Defects from impurities, edges, junctions or domain walls have local detrimental effects on the superconducting state. Defects are also important in topological superconductors, and useful in studying the properties of the superconducting order parameter. LÄS MER
23. Plasma-Facing Components in Tokamaks : Studies of Wall Conditioning Processes and Plasma Impact on Diagnostic Mirrors
Sammanfattning : Understanding of material migration and its impact on the formation of co-deposited mixed material layers on plasma-facing components is essential for the development of fusion reactors. This thesis focuses on this topic. It is based on experiments performed at JET and TEXTOR tokamaks. LÄS MER
24. Electron microscopy of ion implanted silicon carbide
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates structural defects into Silicon Carbide (SiC) in processed Al and B ion implantated samples. Ion implantation is currently the preferred way to introduce impurity atoms into the SiC crystal lattice. The structural defects found was concluded to be extrinsic dislocation loops composed of excess Si interstitials. LÄS MER
25. Strongly Correlated Models in One Dimension from a Density Matrix Renormalization Group Perspective
Sammanfattning : The density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) is a numerical method for studying low dimensional strongly correlated models. The study of these models is one of the most active areas of condensed matter physics today and has been spurred not only by the discovery of high temperature superconductivity but also by experiments on new compounds.
