1. Plasma-Facing Components in Tokamaks : Studies of Wall Conditioning Processes and Plasma Impact on Diagnostic Mirrors
Sammanfattning : Understanding of material migration and its impact on the formation of co-deposited mixed material layers on plasma-facing components is essential for the development of fusion reactors. This thesis focuses on this topic. It is based on experiments performed at JET and TEXTOR tokamaks. LÄS MER
2. Impact of material migration on plasma-facing components in tokamaks
Sammanfattning : Plasma-wall interaction plays an essential role in the performance and safety of a fusion reactor. This thesis focuses on the impact of material migration on plasma-facing components. It is based on experiments performed in tokamaks: JET, TEXTOR and ASDEX Upgrade. LÄS MER
3. Numerical predictions and measurement of non-isothermal airflows : evaluation of buoyant wall jets and airflow through large openings
Sammanfattning : How can we attain a good indoor climate and at the same time reduce energy consumption? These issues are of particular interest in countries with cold climates, where the need for heating is large. It is important to design a HV AC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system that achieves a desirable indoor climate, where discomfort due to draft and thermal discomfort is avoided. LÄS MER
4. Dentin surface conditioning : the role of collagen in dentin bonding
Sammanfattning : Preparation of dental cavities inevitably produces a thin layer of smear, which covers dentin and enamel surfaces. This smear layer, which is between 1 and 10 gm thick, consists of hydroxyapatite, denatured collagen and remnants of cariogenic bacteria. If left untouched, it will weaken the bond between filling material and cavity wall. LÄS MER
5. Impact of erosion and deposition processes on wall materials in tokamaks
Sammanfattning : Understanding of material migration and control of fuel retention are essential for the safe operation of a reactor-class fusion machine. Work presented in the thesis focuses on erosion-deposition processes which are decisive for the formation and properties of co-deposited fuel-containing layers on plasma-facing and diagnostic components, and for the dust formation.
