  1. 16. Tinkering with Light at the Nanoscale using Plasmonic Metasurfaces and Antennas: From Fano to Function

    Författare :Mikael Svedendahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biosensing; Fano resonances; metamaterials; Surface plasmons;

    Sammanfattning : Surface plasmons are charge density oscillations that can couple strongly to light and be excited in, for instance, thin metal films and metal nanoparticles. The plasmonic excitation squeezes the light down to nanometric length scales, far smaller than the wavelength of the light. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Engineered nanomaterials in in vivo and in vitro models

    Författare :Laura Abariute; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; III-V semiconductor nanowires; Nanoparticle exposure; Mouse exposure; Cell exposure; Nanotoxicology; Nanosafety; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Abariute;

    Sammanfattning : Nanotechnology and engineered nanomaterials (ENM) empower existing technologies. One of the great examples are III-V semiconductor nanowires (NW), which have a broad application range. The occupational safety and hazard organizations draw attention to ENM, as their physical and chemical characteristics differ from the ones of bulk materials. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Uncertainty measurements and validation of ocean colour data in optically complex waters

    Författare :José M. Beltrán-Abaunza; Susanne Kratzer; Samantha Lavender; Paul Glantz; Sven Blomqvist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ocean colour validation; MERIS; in situ radiometry; water quality; CDOM; marin- och brackvattensekologi; Marine and Brackish Water Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis addresses validation activities associated with the use of in situ and satellite-based radiometers to assess water quality parameters, such as chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), total suspended matter (TSM) and coloured dissolved organic matter (CDOM- also known as yellow substances, YEL) in CDOM-dominated waters. In paper I, an inter-comparison of in situ radiometers is presented. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Effectiveness and Evaluation of Wood Protection against Biological Deterioration Caused by Filamentous Fungi

    Författare :Olena Myronycheva; Olov Karlsson; Lone Ross; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Träteknik; Wood Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Developing a holistic understanding of the biological deterioration of wooden material by fungi in the laboratory and outdoor conditions requires the development of new assessment procedures and tools that allow describing the process with maximum precision and accuracy. Environmental biodeterioration is a complex process including a combination of physical, chemical and biological changes, with many uncertainties limiting the predictability and effectiveness of selected preservatives after laboratory tests. 5. 20. Remote sensing in optically complex waters : water quality assessment using MERIS data

    Författare :José M. Beltrán-Abaunza; Susanne Kratzer; Carsten Brockmann; Samantha Lavender; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ocean Colour; MERIS; Baltic Sea; Bio-optics; water quality; Chlorophyll; Turbidity; SPM; Himmerfjärden; Remote Sensing; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : This PhD study focusses on the use of MEdium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) data for reliable and quantitative water-quality assessment of optically-complex waters (lake, brackish and coastal waters). The thesis is divided into two parts: A. LÄS MER
