  1. 11. Biochemical conversion of biomass to biofuels : pretreatment–detoxification–hydrolysis–fermentation

    Författare :Venkata Prabhakar Soudham; Jyri-Pekka Mikkola; Christer Larsson; Tom Birger Granström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lignocellulosic materials; Ionic liquids; Pretreatment; Inhibitors; Detoxification; Ferrous sulfate and hydrogen peroxide; reducing agents; alkaline treatments; Hydrolysis; Fermentation; Biofuels; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The use of lignocellulosic materials to replace fossil resources for the industrial production of fuels, chemicals, and materials is increasing. The carbohydrate composition of lignocellulose (i.e. cellulose and hemicellulose) is an abundant source of sugars. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Ionic liquids in bio-refining : synthesis and applications

    Författare :John Gräsvik; Jyri-Pekka Mikkola; Bertil Eliasson; Manu Lahtinen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ionic liquid; Joniska vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : Fossil fuel resources are not limitless so alternative renewable recourses are needed to fill the void that inevitably will be created once the supplies of this resource start do dwindle. Biomass has the potential to fill this void. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Chromatographic separation of wood constituents

    Författare :Niklas Westerberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biorefinery; mathematical modelling.; Norway spruce; separation; chromatography;

    Sammanfattning : In a modern kraft pulp mill only about 45 % of the incoming wood is present in the pulp and it is mainly composed of cellulose. The remainder of the wood, which is dissolved in order to liberate the cellulose fibres, e.g., hemicellulose and lignin, ends up in the mill´s recovery boiler to recover the latent energy. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Pretreatment and Enzymatic Treatment of Spruce : A functional designed wood components separation for a future biorefinery

    Författare :Yan Wang; Gunnar Henriksson; Mikael E. Lindström; Hans Theliander; Martin Lawoko; Adriaan van Heiningen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft cooking; extended impregnation; enzymes; chemo-enzymatic separation process; peeling reaction; sodium borohydride; polysulfide; anthraquinone; sodium dithionite; mild steam explosion; biorefinery.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : The three main components of wood, namely, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, can be used in various areas. However, since lignin covalently crosslinks with wood polysaccharides creating networks that is an obstacle for extraction, direct extraction of different wood components in high yield is not an easy matter. 5. 15. Mild Steam Explosion of Norway Spruce

    Författare :Kerstin Jedvert; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft cooking; biorefinery; steam explosion; galacto glucomannan; Norway spruce;

    Sammanfattning : The most common wood species in Sweden, and one of the most important renewable raw materials in Northern Europe, is Norway spruce (Picea abies). Today, it is utilized mainly for sawed timber and the production of pulp and paper. LÄS MER
