  1. 1. Internet Interventions for Hearing Loss : Examing rehabilitation, self-report measures and internet use for hearing-aid users

    Författare :Elisabet Sundewall Thorén; Thomas Lunner; Gerhard Andersson; Marie Öberg; Jean-Pierre Gagné; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Counseling; hearing loss; hearing aids; rehabilitation of people with hearing loss; internet; outcome assessment; hearing aid satisfaction;

    Sammanfattning : In the future, audiological rehabilitation of adults with hearing loss will be more available, personalized and thorough due to the possibilities offered by the internet. By using the internet as a platform it is also possible to perform the process of rehabilitation in a cost-effective way. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cognition in Hearing Aid Users : Memory for Everyday Speech

    Författare :Hoi Ning Elaine Ng; Jerker Rönnberg; Mary Rudner; Thomas Lunner; Kevin Munro; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hearing aid; working memory; free recall; noise reduction; speech recognition; Hörapparat; arbetsminne; återgivning; brusreducering; taluppfattning;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis investigated the importance of cognition for speech understanding in experienced and new hearing aid users. The aims were 1) to develop a cognitive test (Sentence-final Word Identification and Recall, or SWIR test) to measure the effects of a noise reduction algorithm on processing of highly intelligible speech (everyday sentences); 2) to investigate, using the SWIR test, whether hearing aid signal processing would affect memory for heard speech in experienced hearing aid users; 3) to test whether the effects of signal processing on the ability to recall speech would interact with background noise and individual differences in working memory capacity; 4) to explore the potential clinical application of the SWIR test; and 5) to examine the relationship between cognition and speech recognition in noise in new users over the first six months of hearing aid use. 3. 3. Using the speech intelligibility index for evaluating speech test results and hearing aid characteristics

    Författare :Lennart Magnusson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; articulation index; hearing aid; hearing loss; speech intelligibility index; speech recognition;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding speech is crucial for human communication. Therefore, speech audiometry plays an important part in the assessment of the hearing impaired, and improved speech intelligibility is a major goal of hearing aid fitting. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Otosclerosis; clinical long term-perspectives

    Författare :Ylva Dahlin Redfors; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; otosclerosis; stapedectomy; hearing loss; conductive; hearing aid; health-related quality of life; hearing disability; SF-36; SSQ; IOI-HA; MSCT; CBCT;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis has assessed medical, technical and health-related aspects of otosclerosis from a long-term perspective. A retrospective clinical study was performed where 65 subjects who had previously undergone stapedectomy (1977-1979) were assessed. Twenty-eight - Thirty years later a follow-up was conducted. 5. 5. On Transient Noise and its Reduction in Hearing Aids

    Författare :Anders Gingsjö; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gun shots; sound exposure; speech intelligibility; signal processing; transient reduction; hearing aid; transient noise;

    Sammanfattning : The most important property of a hearing aid is to facilitate verbal communication for hearing impaired people. However, tuning of the acoustical parameters in a hearing aid in order to optimize the speech intelligibility may result in a harsh and unpleasant sound. LÄS MER
