36. The role of head size in total hip arthroplasty - Dislocation, wear and cup stability
Sammanfattning : Large heads are used in total hip arthroplasty, with the aim of reducing the risk of dislocation, but there are concerns related to polyethylene wear, corrosion and cup loosening. Paper I is an observational study that aimed to investigate whether the transition from 28-mm to 32-mm heads and thereafter to 36-mm heads in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) after osteoarthritis has been followed by a reduction in dislocation rates in the Nordic countries. 37. Head kinematics in car–pedestrian crashes: The influence of sliding, spine bending, elbow and shoulder impacts
Sammanfattning : In vehicle–pedestrian crashes, head injuries account for an overwhelming percentage of all severe and fatal injuries. These injuries are caused by the linear acceleration and rotation of the head. To mitigate head injuries, tools such as Human Body Models (HBMs) are used in the development and evaluation of pedestrian safety systems. LÄS MER
38. Clinical Aspects of Pediatric Head Injury
Sammanfattning : Traumatic head injury is one of the leading causes to severe morbidity and death among children. Specific and national management guidelines for pediatric head injuries are lacking in Sweden, and management routines are consequently based on adult guidelines or local guidelines. LÄS MER
39. Att vara rektor och kvinna
Sammanfattning : This study is about heads in the Swedish compulsory school. The aim of the study was toincrease the understanding of being a head and a woman without the ambition to explore sexdifferences. To make the study participatory a research circle was chosen as a general framefor the investigation. LÄS MER
40. Physical Modeling of Brain and Head Kinematics
Sammanfattning : The development of head injury criteria and countermeasures for head protection requires understanding of how different factors affect brain and head kinematics. In this thesis, 2D physical models of the human head were developed and used to evaluate how various factors affect brain kinematics during angular head kinematics. LÄS MER
